The Big Potted Plant sightings

Post by FuzzieDice » Sun May 08, 2005 8:50 pm

This is a continuation of the thread:

http://knightrideronline.com/phpbb/view ... hp?p=80661

We're talking about the Big Potted Plant that has been sighted in nearly (well, maybe EVERY) KR episode. Can you identify the places where BPP is in each episode? And can you name any episodes where BPP does NOT make an appearance?

This should be a fun challenge!

Here's one of my sightings:

I think I saw BPP in the corner in the episode "Diamond's Aren't A Girl's Best Friend" in that girl's boyfriend's apartment where Michael answers the phone then goes back to it and get's knocked senseless by the intruder. It's in the corner behind the sofas. :) Is that the one?

Can someone provide a screen shot of this supposed plant? I'll give the episodes a closer look from now on.

Yes, I would also like a close-up shot of this now well-known plant. If it appeared in almost every episode, then it should have been included in the closing credits since it is a living thing (plastic plants were not yet the rave in those days). I can see it now...Cast: Big Potted Plant as himself.

Do you know exactly where in the episode it was found?

I think this is the Big Potted Plant. I'm not actually sure. It looks more like a fiscus tree. Can someone else post the actual bpp?

Will the real BPP please stand up?

LOL I knew this BPP would turn out to be a Legend when I first read it. It was hilarious LightForceKittFan. It's so stupid that it makes it so funny. I can't stop thinking about that poor prop-guy who carried that Big Potted Plant around to fill empty spaces :D

BTW...

Has BPP ever been in front of "hidden" ramp when KITT turboboosted? Check you episodes. It has to be somewhere!

I can sense that when the KR movie is finally released, the cameo of the Big Potted Plant will be a hot topic

I'll try to catch some shots next time I watch some episodes.

What about that Little Potted Plant thats on the lower right part of the picture? What kind of plant is it? And does it also make multiple cameos in the series? Looks like some sort of venus flytrap to me, but I'm not sure.

There should be a thread on how many times you count Michael & KITT driving through the same puddle of water in different season 2 episodes.

Hey! Cool that the BPP has already turned into a legend! :D

Here's a picture of a Schefflera (not THE BPP):
Image

I'm not too sure about this one, but I faintly remember in the beginning of "Voodoo Knight" when the three 'zombies' are in the room with Michael and they are fighting there's BPP very visible on the background, but no-one hits it or harms it in any way. :)

It would be great if someone could capture the scene from "Knight of the Phoenix" where Michael is in the Comtron building/Wilson's office, where there's two BPP's visible, when the office's door is open. I don't have a digital camera nor do I have a dvd-rom in my computer.
Michael: "Someone tried to kill me yesterday."
Devon: "I have an alibi."

1. Knight of the Phoenix

Image

But I don't think that's the one you mean. There are actually Potted Plants in various locations but they are not a like.

2. Knight of the Phoenix

Image

This I think is more likely a Schefflera, but it's leaves are so huge compared to you picture.

3. Short Notice

Image

I had to post this one because there is a scene of Invasion of the Potted Plants. I mean look at this scene from your Season One DVD and you'll see what I mean :-) But those aren't THE Big Potted Plants IMHO.

I'll check out more later.

Yep, the one in the middle is the one I was talking about, the real BPP I've been seeing multiple times. The other one is right behind Michael, behind the door in the hallway (not seen in that picture). The Schefflera picture I posted earlier is probably the dwarf-Schefflera, but you get the idea of the form of the leaves.
Michael: "Someone tried to kill me yesterday."
Devon: "I have an alibi."

I'm sure they didn't acknowledge the plant in the credits because it wanted its own identity. :D

So this is the infamous Big Potted Plant! Yeah...he's big alright...as tall as Michael Knight himself! I wonder how the plant is doing nowadays...he's probably as big as an oak tree by now. :)

Lady V, that's a fine icon!
This is turning out to be much bigger than I thought... usually when I find out something like this someone has already found it out earlier. It's great to be the first one!!!

Another sighting:
In Slammin' Sammy's Stunt Show Spectacular there's BPP in Devon's office, right in the beginning, it's seen very clearly behind Michael. The camera seemed to pan to the plant, first it was straight to Michael, then it wandered slowly towards the BPP! My imagination or what!?
Michael: "Someone tried to kill me yesterday."
Devon: "I have an alibi."

So the camera even zoomed in on the BPP? Interesting...that plant somehow has a great significance in the series. Somebody ought to interview David H. and ask him about that potted wonder. :)

Haha. Wouldn't it be great if David was in a situation like in the Season I DVD-interviews and the questions would be like:

Interviewer: "What did you think about the script the moment you saw it?"

David: [the infamous religious answer]

Interviewer: "How was it like to act with so many beautiful women?"

David: [remembering the old good times]

Interviewer: "So what about that thing with the potted plants?"

David: [jaw dropping] Excuse me? What? Pants?
