Me too. Looks to me like some kid got ahold of the model, played with it, chucked a load of mud at it, and can't (or won't) clean it for some reason, and is trying to cash in.FuzzieDice wrote:That's PAINT?I thought it was real mud.
If - IF - ERTL brought out a "dirty" version, similar to the "battle-damaged" Optimus Prime 20th anniversary TransFormer, I might consider paying a few bucks extra for it, assuming it was otherwise the same as the original model, but sixty-one dollars?
I don't think so.
EDIT: On reflection, the auction ends on April 1st. You don't think this might just be an April Fool's joke, do you?

If it was real mud it would eventually dry up and flake off. I don't think it's an April Fool's joke but rather some guy or company trying to make a few extra bucks off a basic model by doing a little custom paint job to it. I've seen it done a lot with action figures, namely the Secret Wars Marvel figures from the 80s.
They take the basic mold (since all of the figures use the same mold) and just repaint them to be other characters that were never officially released. Same idea with the model car. So far there's been no bids on it so evidently everyone else thinks it's not worth it also.
Heh, some of us who customized our K.I.T.T.s might as well try the same thing and re-sell them for more money than we spent.

Well it looks pretty damn good. The mud actually looks like mud.
knightdriver- Maybe because we've seen KITT driving down many of dirt and muddy roads and come off of them without a single speck of either of them on him. Maybe it's a unique view on KITT.

You don't say? I guess there are those kind of people who have money to burn. I wouldn't part with that kind of money even if it is an official product. I'd rather have KITT shining as good as brand new since that's the way he looked most of the time in the show.pewter 02ws6 wrote:actually i have seen the same guy sell the general lee and the smokey and the bandit trans am muddy versions of these cars and some have gone for nearly $200.
