Turbo Boost's primary purpose is to provide [[KITT]] with the ability to gain vertical momentum and send him "jumping" through the air. Another ability of the turbo boosts is to provide a dramatic increase in purely horizontal speed for a short duration. However, the latter feature is almost never used, especially because Pursuit Mode achieves the same purpose. Explanations in the series of the Turbo Boost's function range from near-instantaneous volume increase in the tires to thrusters placed in the back. Turbo Boosts are usually controlled by on-board computers to provide the maximum height and precise landing spot needed.
