That isn't the camera crew... naaaaah... those are folks waiting for Alien spacecraft to land... yeaaaa, waiting for Aliens... they just happened to be near the road where KITT makes a jump.

You also see the camera crew in the reflection of KITT's door in the final scene of WHITE BIRD

Something else to try and spot - the crew trailers which can be seen in many episodes. They are white with red stripes (in fact, I think they may have used the Comtron trucks from the Pilot for their crew trucks). Here's some examples of those crew trucks:
