"Ring of Fire" Odd Dialogue

Maybe I'm just not understanding this, but everytime I hear the scene where Michael transfers power to the turbo boosters to jump over the fire, I get confused. Here's the dialogue:

(KITT) "Michael, what are you doing?"

(Michael) "Transferring all energy source systems to turbo."

(KITT) "My logic systems make it highly remote that it will work, Michael."

Is KITT trying to say that he doesn't have enough energy left for a turbo boost? Your thoughts?

I've always assumed Kitt was just saying he thought Michael's plan wouldn't work and they were most likely going to roast, rather than clear the flames.

(On an unrelated note, that episode title inevitably gets Johnny Cash stuck in my head. But that is neither here nor there. :) )

2 reasons: Kitt was probably due for a tune up at the mobile unit and they were away for more time than they bargained for so KITT probably needed the extra power to make the TB.

The second factor is that KITT's systems had been damaged from being out in the forrest and the TB function possibly wouldn't work on it's own and needed extra help.

He was putting all the power KITT had lift to TB because he was weaken from going in the swamp..
