ok, most fans dislike the KR2000 movie for there own reasons, but isn't it true that the movie was supposed to spark a new Knight Rider series? I know it probably would have canned since kitt didn't look like, well kitt, but anyone know the real reason why it was scraped? no david, I think the girl would have taken over, but was it marketing, or people like us protesting a new show cause it's not a true Knight Rider, yet Team Knight Rider I heard was really good, even though I never seen it.

I heard that the new Knight Rider series would be based upon the KR 2010 concept. KR 2000 was like a "series finale", and it was bad! As for KR 2010, I think it had some "feeling" KR 2000 had not, the post-apocalyptic setting was cool (I like the genre) and it gave the message: A Knight Rider is needed in every era. Maybe they're not Michael Knight and Kitt, but they are the protectors of innocent, helpless and powerless people, and they are the ones who face the bad guys who are too powerful for simple authorities. That IS the Knight Rider message!
As for KR 2000, it was like an anti-utopian movie, where the idealistic world turns upside down and the problems start from the beginning. It's like Escape from NY/LA...

Knight Rider 2000 was the testbed for a possible new series. But the
movei rated so low in viewings that the idea was scrapped. The lady
Saun was going to be KITTs new driver and The Hoff would only make casual apprearances in the new series. But it never saw the light of
day!
Knight Rider 2010 was in name only and had nothing to do with knight
Rider in general. It was a mad max ripoff, mish mosh of crap that no
one bothered sitting through.

I did find the KN@K website and found the answer to my question, I also found this in an article..
If the show gets super ratings, and NBC wants to order it as a series for next fall, Hasselhoff won't be available-he's already committed to Baywatch, where he also serves as a producer.
Universal took out some insurance: Susan Norman was hired to play Knight's partner, and could lead the show if it becomes a series.
Hasselhoff says he wasn't happy about the move.
you think if she wasn't in it the movie might have been better?

I thought it was the highest-rated NBC "Movie Of the Week."

I thought it was the highest-rated NBC "Movie Of the Week" in the ratings.

it was the highest, but not "high" enough for NBC to make another series.

I didn't like the movie nor did I like Team Knight Rider. I never saw the other movies. I guess I am just picky I only like black TA KITT and Michael Knight.

I liked the KR2K movie for it's entertainment value. I guess I could have gotten used to KITT's "new" look but I agree that he should have kept the Trans Am body instead. I wasn't crazy about the girl driver though. She was ok, and I liked the idea of KITT's chip in her head. I just never could figure KITT having a girl driver after Michael being his driver so many years. If KITT started off with a girl driver, then I'd been used to it. Same if KITT had a guy mechanic all of a sudden. I mean in the show I always was used to him having a girl mechanic. Just all about what one is used to seeing. Though I have read many fanfics and liked the different ideas, so I guess I could get used to it. Nonetheless the movie was enjoyable. I say this after I saw it on the DVD. I remember watching it when it came out the first time and I didn't like it because KITT wasn't KITT. It was sad then.
I never saw only maybe one episode (the pilot) of Team Knight Rider and don't remember if I liked it or not. I don't even remember it much. Or maybe I saw a small bit of it and didn't see the rest of it. It wasn't KITT and Michael so back then it turned me off.
Now, looking back, I wish I had seen it after all. I do hope they might consider putting it on DVD.

Considering that Knight Rider 2000 had a lot in common with the Pilot episode, I wonder if the chip implanted in Shawn's brain was a version of an original Pilot idea. There was a Knight Rider comic strip posted here a few months back and in the comic, Michael communicated with K.I.T.T. via a chip implanted in his brain, not a comlink.

the knight 4000 didn't seem to have any features kitt even had that were actually useful vitual reality was rubbish (what the hell is the point of seeing the view in 3 different colours) and i didn't see any switch pods i don't think it could have had SPM and Turbo Boost or Ski Mode There was no way anyone was going to eject out of that car. Something I did notice though was that the seats looked a little bit like PMD's
