Mr Cavinov played by two different actors?

I think in Knight By A Nose, Mr. Cavinov was played by an older man. Then in KITTnap, he was played by a much younger guy that didn't look at all like the guy in Knight By A Nose.
Or did I get things mixed up here? It just sorta made me wonder...

I think there were two different men by the name of Cavanaugh that Michael and KITT dealt with in those two episodes, not just one.

I don't konw about that because in KITTNap, in the beginning, Michael was telling the girl while they were riding in KITT that he had put away that guy "last year" (ie. season 3).
This is why I thought it was the same one.

In "Knight By a Nose", it was Randy Cavanaugh. In "KITTnap", it was Jeffrey Cavanugh.

Ah, ok, but why did Michael say he put him away "a year ago" when it also coincides with it being about a year (ie. 3rd season) they put Randy C. away? Unless they were talking about another thing that was not an episode. But odd that they'd both have the same name, and put away at around the same time.
Like in Blind Spot where KITT said the villian's name but it was on the screen as another first name.

I think that's kind of like in "Knight of the Chameleon" when Michael says that he arrested the Chameleon in August of 1982. It was a previous FLAG mission that we (the viewers) didn't get to see. I think the same is true for Jeffrey Cavanaugh.

That probably could be the reason. It just threw me for a loop that it was the same last name, two different guys and so I wondered if it was just using two different actors for the same character.
Come to think of it, it sure would have been neet to see those "other cases" we never did get to see.

Ah well... a job for the fanfic writers, I suppose.
