Really? Wow. I really must watch more series 4 episodes.HondaSiR wrote:The semi did drive itself in season 4. In seasons 1-3 its anybody's guess if the semi was already capable of doing such a feat or if a FLAG employee was behind the wheel.
i must have missed those episodes. i thought RC3 drove it in season 4. i know there were times in one of the other seasons where it showed a guy driving it.HondaSiR wrote:The semi did drive itself in season 4. lot the car is automatic
There are semi trucks out there that have automatic transmissions. They are rare though and are sought after by some truckers probably because it makes their work easier when driving long distances. Not sure how durable they are though when compared with the stick shifts.TurbomanKnight wrote:Since Semi trucks are heavy duty and they are Manual Transmissions and have anywhere from 7-18 speeds (gears) If the semi was in Auto Pilot, wouldn't the shifter lever be all over the place shifting?
This would be true if the Semi was accelerating or climbing a hill, but in this episode the episode was crusing at a steady speed on a level road, so no, the stick wouldn't be moving all over the place.TurbomanKnight wrote:Something to ponder:

The problem with "Auto" boxes in Semi's is that you don't have a great enough range of gears, You need a manual so that you can pick the right gear for the right terrain (Low range, Mid range or High range!) and to help with the fuel economy.HondaSiR wrote:There are semi trucks out there that have automatic transmissions.
