if they ever make the new KR movie would it make sence to film the movie with KITT in the red car that he was in during KR 2000? Or would it make sence to put him in a new car instead? and if they did put him into a new car how would that work out?

I don't think it makes any sense to put him in the red Knight 4000; people don't associate KITT with that vehicle so there's no compelling reason to use it.

I strongly believe KITT will have a new body. As much as we love the old Trans Am, it does look a bit dated to a new audience. (Imagine if the show premiered in 1982 with "the car of the future" in a 1958 body- that's how old KITT's body would look today.)

I don't think they will use a completely custom car (such as the Batmobile) for two reasons: first, from a story standpoint KITT was a unique car but could still blend in. Secondly, and probably more importantly to the creators, is that vehicle product placement is a HUGE business. Car companies might pay from $30-50 MILLION dollars in payments and advertising to get their car into a Knight Rider movie, and that's going to be something that a studio is going to have a hard time passing up.

Well, some fans (me too) would want him in the old shell. Thinking about it, they didn't change Herbie too much in Herbie: Fully Loaded. They used the same General Lee style as was in the series. And wasn't the Starsky and Hutch car about the same? I know they used a different Batmobile though. But lately, these "comeback movies" as it were, were sticking to or close to the original cars. So I don't see why KITT couldn't be in the original Trans Am, maybe with some updated features, since he's always been updated a lot anyway.

Since Starsky and Hutch was like a parody of the tv show so they used the same car to bring you back to the time when the show was aired. That's why everyone was dresses in the 70's style.

My question is ... Is the kr movie going to be present time?

The difference between Knight Rider and the other films you mention - Herbie, Dukes, Starsky - is that none of them involve a state-of-art, high-tech car. Within the storyline of Dukes, even when the show was new the General was INTENTIONALLY an old model; that's part of the charm.
