how could everyone see everything through a monitor?!!

The only thing that drives me crazy with my still favorite show of all time is this....in many episodes, someone is able to see stuff through a monitor that you know there would not be a camera attached, for example, iin "Golith" when Michael gets busted and has to watch Garth break through Red Bluff, they see Golith travel on the road, and see his wheels, ok so a camera is attached to the wheels and the front end so they all can see, ok I get it, but now when they break through, the monitor is showing them shoot at people and stuff, they ain't no dude walking around with a camera waiting to get shot is he??, or in soul survivior, when Michael comes across the hill in that nasty car, she said" Who is in that car", Kitt body is doing something else like using a lazer at the time, and all of the sudden, he is able to pull up on the pc monitor, michael and close up on him, how did he do that without Kitt's body viewing this, or the in Killer Kitt, I could go on and on, I know you have noticed this before haven't you???

yes i agree with you that happens a lot which annoys me because it reminds me that the show is fictional. Knight Rider could become real someday though most of it is real. Also I don't really care for the computery sounds you hear that annoys me too.

Or, in (Darn, I forgot what episode) when they are looking for this one girl's mother that disappeared (got blown up) by some helicopter when she was trying to get pictures of some army thing. Michael and KITT are parked at a gas station and the guy was like saying he has something wrong with his tire, and tried to puncture it and couldn't. Michael is watching it on the monitors but from an angle that could not possibly happen because it's from the man's front side facing the car.

yes fuzziedice that is correct my guess is that kitt could have tapped into a camera at the gas station.

Back then, gas stations like that guy's wouldn't have the funds to have fancy video cameras. Heck, he was trying to get some fast cash by sabotaging cars so he could fix them. ;)

good point there is just no way a camera was pointing at it and also how do they get such smooth clear pictures.

that is just the slightest bit off the topic about the camera

Kitt could have mini cameras that were installed that could possibly allow Michael to see certain things where an external camera might not be.

It could also probably have the capability of zooming in and out.

ya know.......they are the Foundation for Law and GOVERNMENT. Perhaps they were tapped into the "big brother" satellites in space that watch our every move!

Here's the "cheat" I use to explain it in my own head:

Michael isn't watching a video feed. Instead, KITT scans an area and creates a photo-realistic 3D representation of the subject, and can place the virtual camera any place he likes.

Technically KITT didn't even get 3D video screens until season 3, but at least it explains how it could POSSIBLY happen.

to save time they may just have decided not to bother filming another exact same scene with a slight difference. they picked "money saver".

Quite a few series back then did that. They would just use scenes from previous episodes, and did it as a cost saving feature. Airwolf was notorious for doing this. As well as using stock footage from other shows not ever related to the current series.

Dammit this thing has ALWAYS peed me off.

I never liked the way there were camera views in the most silliest of places.

If Red Bluff was impenetrable, no one should have had cameras installed, or at least ones that were tappable.

There are similar problems in all the shows of that era. Maybe they just didn't care if some of the stuff was "realistic" or not. After all it was the 80's.

I just refer to it as the "Floating Eye"......It just moves around KITT, Enabling him to see anywhere and everything. 8)

Another annoying thing with stock footage, Is that every bad guy apparently has the same set of tyre's?, The tread profile on KITT's Monitors is always the same image, No matter if it's a car, A van or a pickup truck.

it would appear to be the case, and maybe more time-saving. About the idea of KITT being able to mock-up a visualisation of what's going on. That's one of the things I'd thought up in an attempt to make it possible too. And for the same reason, it's just not possible :(

doesn't matter I don't really care maybe kitt just taps into camera's or the villans setup there own camera's and there is just really good timing it would look pretty stupid if they kept looking to see who it was and the camera looked really crappy.

I suppos in "lost Knight" for example.

When Devon calls Michael after the robbery,

Devon has a phone to his ear obviously still at the building site I would guess, yet Michael can see him on the monitor....how??
