Knight Rider Mentioned In 'Everybody Hates Chris' Tonight

I was watching 'Everybody Hates Chris' on my tivo tonight, and at one point in the episode Chris and his friend were fighting over a group project, they split and found new partners, and Chris's new friend asked him "Did you watch Knight Rider last night?"

I thought it was cool the writers were making sure to include other 1982 nostalga since the show takes place when Chris Rock is 13, which is 1982. The only question I have is wasn't Knight Rider on Friday nights in 1982? I could be thinking of something totally different, but if it was, the writers didn't look deep enough to see that it aired on Fridays when the kids were obviously at school the next day, but that would have meant they were at school on a Saturday. It is either that or I am obviously wrong. I look it it up and edit the post if I need to.

Good catch! Knight Rider moved to Sunday night in August 1983. However, they might still be safe. If that episode took place on Monday September 27, 1982, the friend might be asking "did you see that NEW show Knight Rider that premiered last night?"

OK, it's a stretch... I'm sure the writers weren't looking at it THAT deeply!

It could be a rerun too, but as was said, I highly doubt they looked into that much. It's just impressive that the show is still recognized.

I don't watch the show, but I'm glad the show talked about "Knight Ride", though.

It wasn't good publicity; it was a dig at us KR fans. :)

Chris is an outcast of sorts and had a falling out with his dweeby Trekie friend and ended up with a boy who was even more of an outcast...."Did you catch Knight Rider" was a punchline.

I know because my family spent the rest of the episode laughing at me. 8)

Still it was funny though....

Digs aren't really bad publicity. YOu used the example of Trekkies, how many digs are made at Trekkies DAILY, and its still one of the, if not the most successful sci-fi series in existence.

I know. My boyfriend is a "Trekker" (apparently they dislike the term Trekkie)

Although when I mentioned that I didn't know what KR fans were called he informed me it was "Losers"

And yet I still go out with him.

Sorry, but you can't be a "Trekkie"/"Trekker" and call any Knight Rider fan a loser.
