3 Long months? What was exactly wrong with the car? I think you should at least ry putting on the nose yourself. From What I read, It isn't hard at all. You might need an extra person (your hubby

) to help align the nose. And then catch a few bolts to hold the nose on while you align it properly. Scanners aren't hard to connect. But, it requires some wires to be run into the interior along with the controller. But You might be able to find a hole in the firewall to run the wires through. If no extra holes. You can also run the wires through the hole that has the wiring harness to the computer. It all depends where the computer is located.

That's great news! I bet those 3 months felt more like years. I know it would to me. Your picutre is also great. No matter how many times I see him, Herbie is just so darn cute!

Congrats on getting KITT home again.

Herbie looks great! I just got a Polar Lights Snap-together Herbie model kit recently, btw.

Ah, I envy you, Knight Girl. All you really have to do is get yourself a nose and a scanner and you've got yourself a nice Convertible Mode K.I.T.T. I wonder which companies out there (if any) sell the "hard shell" to go on the rear. By having your car as a convertible, you'll be able to stand out a little more above the rest with your replica.

I want one! I want one!

Mark's Custom Kits sells a Toneau (sp?) I think it goes for like, $1700 or something like that. IM trying to get my dad to buy a Trans Am from this auto auction my neighbor told me about. I was looking at a 1971 Firebird on eBay. Im trying to get my dad to get in touch with his young side. back in the 80's when he came to this country he had a bunch of muscle cars. Mostly Firebirds. He had a few Camaros. Im slowly persuading him to buy one. Hopefully it works.

Does it have the dash? Or is just gonna be an external replica? Either way, it's beautiful!! You're very lucky!

All you need now is a cowl hood and its close to official!...believe me the hood makes a BIG difference!

For now it will be external only..I might add a voicebox and a lower console but not extensive like the real Kitt..also leaving the top as is..I have kids so I can't make it a two seater...
Thanks for the compliments...

an 82-84 lower console would compliment the iterior much better than the newer ones!...theres more room to work with and add other components and you can build a super cheap lower console with radioshack project box to get you by!...and then you can still use the hand brake!

so instead of buying a Knight Rider console..use the one I have now and make my own?? That sounds good too...I can't seem to find the cowl hood around here.. sigh... The hood I have now only has the bra on it because the paint is chipping pretty bad in one spot.

You have any U-Pull it yards down there? Im sure there's one. You might be able to find a cowl hood there. You are gonna have to Pull in yourself though. (Hence the name, lol) Or you can check eBay. Use the distance checker on ebay, it's a helpful tool.

oh and KnightGirl you dont have to have the 82/83 cowl hood, they offered a NON functional but stil had that offset scoop just like hte cowl hood up to 92 when they stopped making the 3rd gen cars. So if your checking on ebay try firebirds for the hood, the firebird formula had it too.

There are quite a few parts cars on ebay right now. I'll take a look and see if anything's there.
