G'day ,

ive been on this board for a few years now, and have like u guys always
wanted my own Kitt,

but in australia Trans ams aver very expensive and very very rare
I have been thinking about possibly either buying online thru ebay
or some how else , but i dont really trust ebay, now ive seen alot of your
websites and people saying they bought cars for around the $1000 mark
if i wanted to buy a car from the US to australia how would i go about it
how would i know what the car is REALLY like etc
has any one bought unfisihed cars from mark? does don do that, im not
sure, for the time bieng im putting money away for a car, i know it takes
alot of money to build a decent replica, i know its not gonna happen over
night, but i have a dream, always have but just dont know how to execuite it, i defiantly want a 1st/2nd season kitt, with marks right hand drive dash, but i do love dones electronices, but i dont know if they'd work for that set up... i dont even know if mark does things differentlyt for right hand drive dashes electronic wise..
any way what do u guys think ?
am I just one of those people who just dream about it or will it ever happen for me...

ps I sat in kitt when he came to sydney down under and i told him he would be in my garage oneday.... mind u he was to busy watching the
cricket on his monitors to answer...

I have the same problem here in Spain. I've seen ONE Trans Am in my city in my whole life.
I'm thinking in buy one through ebay but I think it's very risky (for the large amount of money). I've seen webpages from companies that ships cars overseas (by ship) and it should cost something between 500-1000$, which is almost the price of the car.

Same thing here. I have only seen one trans am in my entire life.
And there is another problem.
Shipment would cost a lot of money too.

I have a my knight rider car up for sale and I also have knight rider parts for sale.

hey there rhaussiekitt,

You'd be best to go through an import agency to get what you want. Apparently they do all the research to find a nice example, then you can import it legally to the country and get it complied. I think from memory the car has to be 15 years or older, and seeing as it's a trans-am you shouldn't have a problem.

Let me find out some places and contacts for you and i'll post them here.. A good place to start looking at will be the Australian Customs website..

Mate, I live in Sydney and found one up in QLD that I ended up buying. There are quite a few around you just have to know where to look. Try these sites if you haven't already.

p.s. And FYI NEVER stop dreaming! I dreamt of owning a Trans-Am one day and two months ago it happened.

Hmm.. had a quick look on those sites for Trans-Am's.. The problem with these is that they're all in relatively good condition [well for the prices that they're asking they should be!]... The lowest price for a Trans-Am i found was about AUD$10k, which is a little too steep if you're thinking of doing a conversion.

But if you've got the cash then there's nothing stopping you.

One thing to think about when buying a car is that would you rather buy someone else's labour or do it yourself. Doing a replica is already going to take up enough of your time/funds fitting all those KITT bits and pieces. The thing you have to think about is that if you aren't too mechanically minded (like me, but quickly learning) is it better to get something that is good/great mechanically so once you have it you mainly have to concern yourself with the KITT conversion.
