Guess you would spray it down with Windex every once in a while!

I would love to see how smooth it drives, but I'm guessing not long after driving it, things would break down due to non usage for so many years?

KnightDriver could tell a great story about buying a car like this.

Probably it has the same fluids since the car was bought. The car would be great for a Knight Rider Replica but its a Four Speed Manual Transmission.

I got the same type of car, only KITT perfect.
Really low miles, show room condition. Great car.

Or so I though.

You don't want one of these low milage cars. But if you do,
dont plan on it lasting long. These cars don't do well sitting, I found out.

With in 3 years of limited driving, I had to replace the tranny, and now
the engine. Luckily I got mine at a better price than the one above. I
can say, unless your rich, you wont enjoy it long. Being stored and never
seeing weather doesn't stop the problems from happening.

They dry out, things settle, and then when used, they suck your wallet
dry. I still have mine but it has been a driveway relic since last year.
Maybe this spring I will get to resurrect it again but the cost of a new
engine just isn't in the cards now.

Do I miss it.....yes. Do I miss the 8 miles to the gallon......NO.

Especially now that the gas prices just passed 2 bucks a gallon here.

All in All, if you got the cash and don't plan on using it, then go fot it. Other
wise, plan to be hit where it hurts.......... The wallet. LOL.

Let's face it. That would make an excellent KITT conversion car...which would be one you tow around to shows and such...never to drive.

Still, I don't understand the logic of buying a "new" car to just look at it. But, then again, I'm not THAT crazy... (Perhaps, it's an auto enthusiests Picasso?)

I agree with spyhunter, manuals give a more sportier ride. An automatic although easier to use, simply does not offer the same level of driver control that a manual does. People only hate clutches as they don't know how to use one

A semi-automatic is the best option but these are only available on high-spec cars (with paddle shifts).

That car looks in amazing condition. To be honest, I wouldn't have the heart to convert it to KITT. To tamper with something that has been unmolestered for all these years is unfair.

A manual transmission, although not authentic for KITT, I believe would give him a much sportier ride than an auto. And there are some conversions that have used a manual tranny. I'm gonna have to drive each one to be certain, but I plan to use a clutch in my KITT conversion if it ever happens...

I don't think anybody that has driven a stick shift will argue that it is a whole lot more fun to drive vs an auto...

Well, it is only a great story if it hasn't happened to you. LOL

It is not the fluids, it is the years of sitting that drys out all of
the gaskets and seals. A fluid change wont help that. A complete
rebuild will. Unfortunately, That is what I have to do now.

To give you an example on when it may happen. I have 12,000
miles on top of what it had when I purchased it. The tranny went
after 6000, the rest has been a domino effect til it died totally. The
rest of the car is fine. Give or take a few mechinic inflicted inncodents.

I can say that the price they are asking for that car is outragous.
It barely cost that much when new. I paid 6000.00 for mine in 1999
and even that was steep but worth it to me. (back then anyways).

It is a live and learn experience.
and. I lived and learned it. LOL.

The car is still here and will be fixed eventually.
Got other projects on hand for the moment.

Well, I still have the stickers for my car and the price on mine was $13,000 and change. But my car has every option available as well as full leather interior. Nothing was left out on it. hence the higher price tag.

But yeah, he wants WAY to much for that car. IMO.

Don't forget your lovely fuel infection, errr I mean Fuel Injection feature.

if you find a car thats been sitting that long wth that low miles and it still has it's original fluids...DO NOT FLUSH AND REPLACE THEM.

the rubber seals throughout the engine and transmission are by this point saturated fom the current fluids and mostly rotted. if you flush the system you WILL FLUSH ALL THE SEALS OUT OF YOUR CAR. happened to my friends 91 camero. had to get a new transmission and it sucked for him : )
