We've never really had a discussion about this topic because the original ki2t, we could only imagine the voice of William Daniels to play him. However, for KR08 there were 2 voices up for the lead role of Ki3t. Val Kilmer was ultimately picked but just before the pilot 2 hour movie was going to be shown, Will Arnett was going to play Ki3t voice until Universal found out he was the spokesperson for another car company and was replaced with Val. Who do you guys think would have made the best voice for ki3t out of the 2?

Based on those preview samples, I'd have to go with Val Kilmer. Arnett sounds too robotic and harsh to me. Now, if Arnett could tone down his robotic sound and sound less harsh, I could change my mind 'cause Arnett may have a better voice suited for AI.

I actually liked Arnett's voice sounding more robotic for the role. In fact if they couldn't get Peter Cullen to voice Karr again, Arnett would have been perfect for the role considering how robotic Karr sounded in Trust Doesn't Rust from season 1 of the original series. I do see how ki3t's voice had to sound gentle, soothing and human which did match Ki2t from the original series.

Val Kilmer was the Best Choice.
