Knight rider gps help/reprogram

I have the Knight Rider GPS and it don't work anymore because of old Maps I was wondering if there is a way to convert this to an updated version and make everything work with newer Maps or if there's a way I can change operating system or just basically build my own GPS unit using the Knight Rider GPS Hardware
