Battlestar Galactica and Knight 3000 scanner

I met "James" at the Knight Rider Festival in Vegas, and he mentioned something that I am embarrassed I never thought of before.
We all know the Knight Two-Thousand's scanner was borrowed from Battlestar Galactica's cylons. Nothing surprising there, we knew it in 1982. But the connection I never made is that there was a more advanced cyclon named Lucifer who had a dual scanner for eyes, sort of like the Knight Three Thousand. The light pattern isn't exactly the same, but close enough where I should have at least thought about it at some point.
I don't know if Lucifer inspired the Knight 3000 or not, but I thought it was an interesting comparison.
