Different kind of "replica"

Growing up I remember watching the Knight Rider tv series with my dad. The past year, my family and I got a chance to watch the series again and when it came time for my 3 year old son to get a new bed (due to his new baby sister needing his old one) my wife asked why don’t I make him a bed? Inspiration took over and this is the outcome. The bed has a 15" Plasma Glow scanner bar that's been adapted to indoor use. Now If I can just make it talk!

Reminds me in Knight in Shinning Armor Michael felt curled up like a pretzel after sleeping inside kitt but in Not a Drop to drink he said sleeping in kitt was like a motel bed very cumfy.I guess your kidd will sleep in kitt very comfortably.I just hope he doesn't fall asleep at the wheel and drive into dream traffic.
Excellent job on the detail, good eye!

Wow, that has got to be the best kids bed I have ever seen! Nice job on the craftsmanship, that looks like a high quality frame I could go to a store and buy. I love the attention to detail and the creativeness of it all, simply amazing!

Very cool bed. I do agree with the others here, that if you felt eager enough you should try to make a few more and get a little cash in your pocket. Or at least come up with blue prints to share online!
Of course if the bed is kept as a one-of-a-kind, then its value only goes up when its time to get rid of it (if you ever do, that is!)

Yes, but does it turbo boost?
Would that mean fighting siblings would have a Goliath bed?

To those wondering about plans or custom building. While I don't think my wife would like the idea of me spending another 2 or 3 months in my spare time building another bed, custom orders are not going to happen. However, I am working on a set of plans for the bed and plan to offer a PDF download of the project complete with construction photos, detailed drawings and body parts outline template. I'm still trying to figure out all the details but hope to have them available sometime this spring.

Just thought of something...
It would have been an interesting touch to make the nose slide out like KITT going into SPM. The nose would have 2 hidden drawers

Maybe when you get those plans drawn up I can add it to mine!
Really looking forward to the blueprints

How is the progress? I've actually been getting thick cut plywood gathered up in nervous anticipation
Hope all is well and I understand if the time is limited on getting to the plans. Probably take me a few months to make this myself.....

Well, all was well until the winter disipated and other home projects took over. I'm planning on late summer/early fall having plans available. I"ll post an update closer to that time.

Well, it's been about 1 year since I started the bed plans project. All I can say is it's still in the works but I'm not sure when it will be finished. I will post a message whenever they are available. Thanks for not forgetting! ; )
