Sunday, 14 March 2010
NavTones, the global publisher of turn-by-turn GPS voices, announces today its sponsorship of the Knight Rider Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada. Descending on the Fremont Street Experience in historic downtown Las Vegas on March 19th and 20th, 2010, Knight Rider Festival is a free, all-ages celebration of the show that made "The Hoff" a household name and whose talking car, KITT, became an icon and inspiration of modern technology.

More than twenty-five years after its debut on American airwaves, Knight Rider lives on as an international entertainment sensation, captivating people of all ages, with its global network of fan communities, both virtual and real world. Knight Rider Festival is more than just a meeting of casual fans. Not only is it the largest event of its kind, drawing visitors from all over the world, it is also a charity fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network. With Knight Rider having made its mark as a show about ridding the world of injustice and preserving human life, it is only fitting that the festival honoring its impact also gives back to those most in need. Donations will be accepted on site.

Visitors to Knight Rider Festival will find Fremont Street transformed in to a veritable parking lot of KITT cars from all over the United States. Kicking off the event will be the parade of VIPs in the afternoon of Friday, March 19th, where each VIP arrives at the press conference along Fremont Street in one of the fifteen KITT replicas slated to appear. Scheduled VIP guests include: Oscar Goodman (Mayor of Las Vegas), Glen A. Larson (Knight Rider Creator/Executive Producer), actresses Shawn Southwick King, Catherine Hickland, and Rebecca Holden, Michael Scheffe (KITT Designer), Stu Phillips (Composer, main theme), and custom car legend George Barris.

Following Friday's press conference, the NavTones-sponsored VIP party will take place at the Golden Nugget overlooking the festival until its close at 11pm. On Saturday, March 20th, festivities resume at 10am and include celebrity autograph, photo, and Q&A sessions on the First Street Stage and along Fremont Street until 5pm. Knight Rider Festival is produced by Paul Casey Productions.

"We are truly overjoyed to be a part of Knight Rider Festival. Like its namesake, it is a phenomenon that continues to grow while staying true to the timeless theme that one man can make a difference," says Will Andre, CEO of NavTones, adding, "And our heartfelt 'thanks' go out to the millions of fans around the world who not only make such an event possible, but also live each day knowing that being good to each other never goes out of style."

Need directions to the show? The original voice of KITT for GPS will be available for Garmin and TomTom navigation systems on March 16, 2010, via NavTones.com and TomTom HOME, respectively. NavTones' exclusive GPS voice of David Hasselhoff is available now at http://navtones.com/thehoff" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I just want to say so there isn't confusion that Stu Phillips and Rebecca Holden will not be attending this year's event. We have however gained exciting new guests this year like Writer/Produce Tom Greene, Ann Turkel, and Shawn Southwick King as well as some surprise ones!

See you in Vegas!

MR2NR: Actually was asking Navtones that earlier - they tell me that they were unhappy with some of the audio quality and they wanted to tweak it before release this morning at the last minute. Then the power went out to their studio - so hopefully soon!

The singer and actress Rebecca Holden will not attend the event Knight Rider Festival? But I liked that Rebecca was there and sing live, because she is better.

Yes, that's what I wanted to say, Knight Racer. The Patricia McPherson and Rebecca Holden are very beautiful and Catherine Hickland is also beautiful. But Patricia McPherson (Bonnie Barstow) has a special place in the heart of almost all fans of the television series Knight Rider and car KITT.

My big dream is that I really liked that Patricia McPherson was present there to show Knight Rider Festival and to all fans Knight Rider.

:good:

I have purchased from navtones.com the Garmin KITT voice (William Daniels) yesterday.

Took my GPS for my first ride today with the new voice! While I enjoyed KITT guiding me, and especially the humor when I intentionally went off my chosen path ("Paul, it seems that I am not getting through to you, Recalculating ..."), I was disappointed that this voice does not include a text-to-speech option. In other words, KITT's voice says "In 2 miles, turn right." rather than "In 2 miles, turn right onto Main Street." I purchased this GPS last year in particular for its text-to-speech option to help guide me.

I think I will use the KITT voice for familiar local roads only, then switch to the Garmin default voice when I need directions to get to schools using unfamiliar routes. The KITT voice is top-quality and recommended only if you do not mind constantly looking at the screen momentarily to read the specific street/highway that KITT doesn't say.

I'm pleased to post this review to help others in their decision. -- Dr. Paul

yup, got my KITT voice for tom tom, FYI if you want the KITT wallpaper for start up and the KITT car icon for your 'pointer' you have to download them separately, plug in the tom tom and bring up the HOME app and then dowload them ;). if i would have known that the garmin guys get more cool KITT stuff I would have gotten the garmin instead of a tomtom, but oh well i got the 1 model below the top end model, tomtom xxl 530S for only 120 bucks, so I am not complaining :D.

You got lucky as heck man, I got the same GPS and thought I stole it for $210!! I'm thinking about getting the
garmin nuvi 880 though. Just haven't mustered up the courage to drop 700 bucks on a GPS yet. I work for a local utility company so I rely on GPS pretty heavily, was getting tired of the computer voice that sounded like he was trying to eat my soul. KITT's voice is a welcome and nice change.

I purchased a Nuvi 785T here--->http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001EL ... ss_product for $180.00 just for KITT :). it's a discontinued unit but the best deal if you really don't use the google add on anyways.

I got mine loaded Friday and it is great but what extra stuff does Garmin users get? I just got the voice. I know the Mio is very customizable but haven't seen anything better with the Garmin than the Tom Tom. I mainly would love to have a KITT icon car.

So far KITT has said randomly--"Why would I need and Iphone" and "Do we really know where we are going?" it takes about 15 min though for them to come up. Can you make it say all the comments like the Mio?

if you have the garmin GPS some models you can enter your name when you go to buy it so KITT will say things like and i am paraphrasing here "honestly Dave, if your not going to listen to my directions, I am not going to bother" and stuff like that, also he says different things when you arrive. on mine (tom tom) he says "you have reached your destination, what do you mean were off the air?".

On the tomtom he says things like: (and I'm paraphrasing)

Take the 3rd left, trust me I'm a super computer.

Take the 3rd right, I'm recalibrating our tire tread for optimal performance

Take the 2nd left, and then make an immediate right. Its no joke.... like Baywatch.

In 200 yards merge onto the interstate, Super Pursuit Mode! (Then it plays a sound effect)

I know I'm just a 11 million dollar super computer, but you are going the wrong way.

We have reached our destination... what do you mean we are off the air??

My scan reveals that you should probably consider locking my doors

He says quit a bit, the highway one is really getting on my nerves though lol.

Hey guys, I went on my first long trip using this KITT voice, and it was awesome! My favorite quote is one not mentioned here yet...something like "Despite what you may think, I am not now, nor have I ever been, a Ford Mustang." Priceless!

is there a website where you can type in your name or select your name or something and hit like a preview button or something and KITT will say it? i am wondering what it will sound like - KITT saying my name.
