The episode you are thinking of is called junkyard dog. Kit get's dumped in a toxic waste pit and destroyed all the while pleading michael for help. Kit is Rebuilt but has some confidence issues afterwards which michael helps him work through. Good episode

A big episode for a lot of the fans, Kitt showed a very vulnerable side or dare I say it, an extremely human side with all the frailties that go along side it. Junkyard Dog is probably in the top 5 best KR episodes of all time for us fans.
