Hi All!

I'm just barely making my semi-monthly goal. :D This volume/episode/installment of 20 Questions is an interview with Scott Kirkessner. Enjoy. http://www.dknightshade.homestead.com/20Questions.html

Out of idle curiosity, I wonder why you haven't done KI yet. I thought she should be one of the first since she's worked so hard to get the Edwards back together and compile that giant list of fanfiction and maintain it. Not to mention writing several series of her own, creating a radio station and planning to advocate fanfic on it.

I have to admit, when you first mentioned your "20 Questions" idea I thought it was going to be sort of a generic form that you were going to send out. But obviously, you did your homework and catered the interview specifically for Scott K... Very good journalism.

Thanks Mike. There are, of course, going to be generic questions. I am, for instance, going to ask everyone which of their own stories is their favorite because I find it interesting the reasons why people are more attached to some stories than others (I took more psychology in college than journalism  ). But I do plan to tailor each interview to the specific author as much as I can. And throw in a few random questions for good measure. :D

Rusti, the order in which people are interviewed is definitely not intended to be Order of Importance. I am in no position to decide which authors are more significant to the fandom than others and I wouldn't want the series to have that tone -- it's just for fun and the interest of hearing opinions that people might not share unless directly asked. I'm just trying to mix it up a bit and get a broad spectrum of different groups of writers working in the fandom. Thanks for the suggestion though.

It's ok, Rusti, I already know that she will never ask me.

Nice interview with Scott, Knightshade.

That's one very industrious fan fiction writer - I feel suitably shamed! I'm obviously from the opposite end of the spectrum to Scott - 'What's wrong with the old? Embrace the old! Fear the new!' - but the interview was very enlightening all the same. It's great to read that most writers have the same problems.

I'm guessing this '20 questions" thing has to do with fanfiction writers....

Oh, yes, sorry. 20 Questions is a little series of interviews with KR fanfic writers. I guess I should get in the habit of stating that in these posts. :D

ROTFL.
BTW, I haven't been around to harass you lately -- how's that next story coming?

8) Is it safe to ask how you make your selection? I think it'd be fun to know. Do you pull names out of a hat?

I don't have an exact process. :D I'm just looking to spread things out. I was actually debating between you and Scott this time around because both of you have been writing longer than most of us. That and I wanted someone who was writing in either TKR or KR2K as their main fandom. Also, I wanted someone who doesn't typically work with Tomy since she was the last interviewee. ::shrugs::

Really? So how did you make your choice between the two of us?

Getting back on topic please...

As a suggestion Knightshade, maybe you could come up with a small "20 Questions" icon that authors could optionally put on their sites (or whererver their stories appear) to link back to their interviews. As you interview more people, we'd start seeing the icon more and more as a symbol of getting to know the authors behind the stories.

That's a good idea, Mike! How about the phrase 'I have been pumped for answers', as in 'I have been' to wherever/on a certain ride? I wonder what the icon could be?

Ah, I've lost my Knight Rider character 'hat', and found my 'To Kill A Mockingbird' groove again. Not that I would dare write fan fiction on the latter, but I've disappeared back into Harper Lee's world!

Don't close my 'wing' of your website down just yet, though :?

Rusti, I chose to interview Scott because I was intrigued by two of the decisions he's made as an author. One, to rewrite a couple of older stories and two, to write a novelization (not sure that's the right word, but it works) of the movie. Those are kind of unique things to do, so I wanted to ask him about them.

Mike, that's actually how I got the idea. An author in another fandom had a link "More About the Author" and it went to an interview which I thought was cool. If I get time, I'll work on a graphic, but any of the interviewees are welcome to link to their interview.

Sarah, I have no plans to shutter your section.

That's cool Knightshade. It'll be interesting to see who's next.

Well, the offer my interview that I said I'd do in the last post related to this, is still open. :) Just e-mail me the questions.
