I've been a little annoyed by the same thing. In the original series, if Michael asked KITT to do something, KITT would respond with something like "Right away, Michael" I hope this eventually stops.

The repeating of commands is a bit repetitive & annoying. But as they mentioned K.I.3.T. is still learning, I'm pretty sure improvements will be made as the season progresses.

KI3T doesn't have a button interface like KI2T does, so I think the repeating commands are to keep viewers in the know about what abilities are being used at the moment.

TOS used a similar repetition with button commands (Turbo Boost, Passive Laser Restraint System, Super Pursuit Mode), and misc. effects (LED Gas Pedal to indicate hard acceleration, Michael Sr. leaning back into his seat to simulate the G Force of a Turbo Boost jump).

I actually like the repetition. It helps reinforce the fact that KITT is first and foremost a computer.

I think they made KI2T too human in the original series. When they would try to bring up the subject of KITT not having feelings, it just wasn't believable because he acted SOOOO human. By having KI3T repeat commands and using that calm voice, it stresses the logical side of him. When KI3T questions human emotions, you get the sense that he really doesn't understand.

I wonder if the producer is doing this intensionally?

I was taking his repeating of commands as a confirmation tactic. i.e. "Closing gate. Scrambling codes."

If Mike had an issue with KI3T doing it wrong, he could catch it then. I kinda like it.

I'm not that keen on it myself. I find it distracting, because I keep thinking "why the hell doe she have to repeat everything ARGH!!" every time he does it.

I'm in a lose lose situation.

I think someone posted in another thread, its a Military thing, confirming the order by repeating it back

Reading thread.
Posting answer:

I don't think it's military. Then it would be "sir, yes sir", or in KITT's case "yes Michael". We heard that from KI2T, KI3T is always telling us what he does. Maybe that's easier than showing some real stunts like driving through walls, jump over helicopters or drive on two wheels.

I agree with Mike here.

I like the repetition, I think it makes KITT more believable, and gives the writers some room to grow the character. In the time of the original show, no one really knew how a computer this advanced would behave, so they made him very human. Now people understand, or think they do, how a computer responds to commands. The new show is more grounded in current reality, and I buy the military precision of KITT repeating commands as he carries them out.

I simply take it as an aspect of the way KI3T is programmed. By repeating commands, he confirms whether or not those commands were executed. So if Mike tells KI3T to initiate transformation, and he doesn't respond quickly, Mike will know something is up without having to sit there and wait wondering for an extra few seconds why transformation is not taking place.
