Pilot Vs. Series

Does anyone else think the Pilot movie was a lot more Knight Rider than the series?

The pilot seemed to promise things we're not seeing in the series.

We saw Kitt driving himself, crashing into things, being shot at, changing color, it all seemed to mostly focus around, and on Kitt, at least much more than the series has so far.

I had reservations, and criticisms, after seeing the pilot, but after seeing the first 3 episodes, I can't help thinking that I wish the series was a little more like the pilot.

I'd also be interested to know at what point Sarah went from being a University physics teacher to fully trained FBI agent? :?

I conveniently erased the pilot from the back of my head. It was that bad. The series is leagues ahead, even if the budget is considerably smaller.

Seriers has similar feel to old knight rider.

i really liked the pilot and also am liking the series.
i think the centre console should be put back into ki3t and keep the snowglobe and HUD it would be better than having the standard look, also i really like the steering wheel from the pilot as well

I also perefered the pilot's attack mode even though i do like the new attack mode

I dont like the FBI involvement in the foundation either

As corny as it sounds the writing in the original was leagues ahead of the series today. I think maybe what it is was you seen the passion comming from the hoff because he was michael knight. Justin kinda seems like "ok Whatever"
were not seeing any passion for the role.

got to say it would be nice to see justin smile a bit more. i know he has a past haunting him but doesnt do to see him looking moody.
im not saying he is grumpy all the time but needs to look like he is enjoying the role more

The pilot felt much more like KR, KITT was a more central character, more emotion evoking scenes, Attack K3000 was better and the actors didn't seem like emotionless droids. Some of the scenes I enjoyed the most were the one where Sarah tells K3000 about her Mom, the funeral scene and when Mike steps out of the K3000 after the collision and begins to understand what it means to be the son of MK.

There is no denying that I am a huge fan of the back-door pilot. But the pilot is easier to love because it's purpose was to plant the seed of what is to come without ever having to show it. The last scene left your mind open to so many possibilities. Now they actually have to deliver.
I like the series so far but I'm also looking forward to seeing an episode by Dave Andron.

the pilot was much better, the acting was better, the attack mustang was nicer looking, kitt had a nicer steering wheel, and kitt was the central character, and we got to see kitt drive by himself.

For me, the backdoor pilot was the REAL Knight Rider continuation show.

I would say that the series does focus around KITT, but not in the same fashion as the pilot did. The problem I had with the pilot was that they were seemingly trying to push how "advanced" KITT was when some of the things we saw in fact were not.

The series seems to be going the opposite direction. It's practically knocking us over the head with what KITT can do. These items include (this is more of a factual list, not a list of criticisms or praises):

*Driving himself (he has done this, just not a lot).
*Transformation into the truck.
*Transformation into a sub.
*Replication technology (the key).
*Withstanding artillery fire (from bullets to the missile that blew him over the edge of the cliff in "Iguana").
*Medical care (sealing the Package's wound).
*Satellite tapping for both audio and visual signals to track targets.
*Laser and ability to destroy an object on his body.
*Turbo boost with both moving and stationary starts.
*On body screens (the "tattoo scene").
*HUD FX
*Nano repair (as shown in the cracked/repaired windshield sequences) in "Journey".

Now, you can argue about the quality of these abilities or how well they have been presented, but in 3 episodes we've seen KITT do quite a bit. I think part of the problem is that he has such a large human cast to work against that sometimes all the humans get in the way of us remembering that KITT can and does do some pretty cool stuff.

What I miss most from the series? Two main things:

1. Mike needs to become the center of action again. He did most of the fighting and interaction with KITT once he and KITT met up in the movie. I'd like more solo missions where no one else is riding with him.

2. I want the LCD screen back. :)

Definitely agree. Kitt is just there to repeat commands and let people know he's doing what he's been told. Not much else. Aside from him watching movies - which was a great touch - he hasn't seemed to do much. I think he was more central in the pilot and as such had some development.
