Attack mode/speed/ contradiction

Ive just watched the first episode of the new series and spotted something which completely contradicts what GST was saying about the new attack mode...
When attack mode was unveiled at comic con, he made reference to the fact that we, on this forum, had already seen the car a week earlier (much kudos to jaimetheking for that) and that the general consensus was that no one really like the big grey scoops. His defence was that "we actually need those to make the car go super fast...." Later, when Justin is asked about the top speed of the new 'attack mode' GST says that they had managed "377mph" so far...
Everyone assumed he was referring to the attack mode but watch that first episode....
Kitt, after being hit by the 'napalm rocket' was in standard mode NOT attack mode (in fact, being in attack mode with the large scoops on the 'hood' would have been a fire hazzard as the flames could go in to the engine....) and Billy instructed KITT to get up to 377mph in order to neutralise the blaze.
I'll throw in a separate post about my opinion on the episode itself....

I think KITT didn't actually go to 377mph in the first episode due to limited power constraints?

They said in the car that KITT had never went that fast, even in Attack Mode. The purpose of the speeding up was to gradually put out the fire and cool things down, I doubt they made it to that speed and the mentioning of it not working had to do with the temp not going down or fire out as KITT kept speeding up.

I dunno about that one either. The editing for that moment was so bad, I was wondering what the hell Billy was talking about, because I heard KITT earlier say he couldn't do it due to power restraints. I didn't see a dramatic increase in KITT's speed; and yeah, Micheal had just said that speeds that high haven't even been done in Attack mode..telling me that KITT needs Attack mode to achieve supreme speeds of that magnitude.

Speed is never the answer when extinguishing a flame. Look at the space shuttle what happens to it when it comes into the atmosphere? Also the SR71 has to have thermal fuel tanks that expand due to heat buildup from excessive speeds. When you blow on a fuel fire does it go out??? I thought this made Billy look so dumb. Also another key point that was left out is didn't KI2T have an Oxygen system in the car? You would think Graiman would have swapped that over in his garage

true.. speed is never the answer to extinguish a flame. The analogy to a space shuttle and the sr-71 is justified. however, I don't believe it's totally "on point." It is possible that at those speeds the friction caused by air could actually allow kitt to shed the napalm from his skin. Napalm is just jellied gasoline- as sticky as it may be - it's gotta fall off eventually. Just like the space shuttle and the sr-71 where the heat is caused by friction (and you see the friction which rips off tiles from the space shuttles belly)...of course, this pretty much meant that he'd be spreading this advanced form of napalm all over the city streets - but it could have worked.
It did make billy look like an idiot - advanced degrees my ass... then again, no one knows what the heck he was calculating in the first place.

None of the characters said that Kitt COULDNT do 377mph in normal mode...
Mike did say about never having reached that speed before, even in attack mode but no one said kitt COULDNT do those speeds without transforming...

Logically, if KITT did have an oxygen system, he would bring that oxygen in from the outside. Being covered in flames, the use of the oxygen system would have been a silly thing to do.
