"Knight Rider's" KITT car is heading to Bristol -- sort of.
NBC has teamed up with Ford Motor Co. and Yates Racing, which operates two motorsports teams in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, on a promotion for the network's upcoming series.
As part of the partnership, Travis Kvapil will drive the specially painted No. 28 "Knight Rider" Ford for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday.
"The stealth look and feel of the car coupled with Travis Kvapil at the helm has us very excited about this race," said John Miller, chief marketing officer at NBC Universal Television Group and president of the NBC Agency. "This event exemplifies the adrenaline and action the 'Knight Rider' series will deliver."
Added Kvapil: "It's every guy's dream to feel like they are an action hero, and I get to have that chance under the lights of Bristol with our No. 28 'Knight Rider' Ford."
The race will be broadcast Saturday on ESPN. The series bows Sept. 24.

Wonder if it's got an Attack or Super Pursuit Mode?
NBC really seem to be trying to push this new series in a way that TKR never saw for example...
Gives me hope that they have faith in their product.

Curious to see what the front looks like. I quite like Montoya's Texaco Dodge with its mainly black livery with shots of red. The front end of the Mexico car from last year was a dead ringer for the new KITT actually:

That made me chuckle a bit, hardly seems stealthy with all that advertising

Yeah, if it was sitting against a billboard you might not even see it!

I wonder if Travis will have a Knight Rider firesuit and helmet too.
That car is going to be ready for the scrap heap after Saturday's night's race at Bristol.

I like NASCAR too. I hope it works out. I went to kittisdriving.com which forwarded to a page about kitt/kr on NBC which "cannot be found". Interesting. I hope they have more on this soon!

Here's a news article that says he will have a Knight Rider suit as well:

That would be just plain wrong if that race car ends up all banged up from a wreck or just banging into other cars, which normally happens at Bristol. It could really use the self healing nano-technology this Saturday!!!

I'm really amazed at the amount of promotion going on for this show. Between frequent commercial airings and things like this, I'm really happy NBC is promoting this big time. In fact, this reminds me a lot of its push for "Bionic Woman", which failed on its own merits and not because NBC didn't push it. The only thing missing now is a big banner in Times Square, NYC (which Bionic had).

I'm sure they're gonna do something big like that, specially in the subways in NYC. The only fall show NBC is currently promoting is Hereos (probably cause its been so long since a new episode for them). All the other shows seem to be less than a month a way that are being advertised.

Travis qualified 32nd for tonight's race. I doubt we'll see the Knight Rider Ford in victory lane tonight.

I'm just glad that KR is being presented in NASCAR to begin with! I can't afford cable but I'll be keeping my eye on the results!

Our car is 25 and 1 lap behind as of right now.
On the crash:
Lap 216 -- YELLOW FLAG NO. 3: Big crash involving Kasey Kahne, Denny Hamlin, Clint Bowyer, Reed Sorenson, Robby Gordon, Casey Mears, Michael Waltrip and Sam Hornish Jr. brings out the caution. Matt Kenseth will get the free pass and return to the lead lap.

Sue: Thanks! I happened to have found the live video link around lap 150-something I think.
At race end, our car was at 24th and 3 laps behind.
I'm happy Kevin Harvick got 4th! I was hoping for at least 3rd but he didn't quite make it.

Carl Edwards took the win.

				Ok, everyone, that's a rap!

Let me tell you it's been awhile since I watched NASCAR. I think the last time was when Harvick won at Watkins Glen a couple years ago. I love this stuff! And to have both a Knight Rider car and Harvick in the race was pretty cool! It was a pretty exciting race.
I'm quite a happy camper.
