knight rider online

from what ive seen in video footage from Comic Con (thanks to the contributors here) it seem that GST is a very charismatic, quick thinking likeable kind of guy.

Russo and Bruening, although likeable, did struggle in the live 'adlibing' that went with the unveiling. You'd think being trained professionals for the stage/screen that they would be a little more comfortable than that...

The guy that was doing Ki3ts voice seemed pretty relaxed and well able to manage the crowd, although this could be because he wasnt 'facing' them....

Really enjoyed the 'panel' part of the videos that was shown and the one actor that wasnt late, forgive that i cant remember his name right now, really seemed to enjoy it and got into the idea of 'playing' other cast members along with GST.

Anyway, still great to see, and thanks again to the guys for going and getting that footage for us...

A lot of actors are actually VERY shy and retiring, especially in their early years. Give JB and DR a few years of KR adulation and they'll probably open up a bit more. It's still early days for the project so they are probably very nervous about that too!

If you look at Daniel Craig in interviews, he does look pretty uncomfortable being "himself" and has said on many occasions how uncomfortable he is being in the spotlight and would rather just get on with the job.

Some people just aren't good at ad-libbing and thinking of things to say quickly. I know that with me there's times I'm good at it, other times I'm off and then think later "DAMMIT! I should have said this!"

It does of course also have to do with comfort level, I think Deanna was a bit more comfortable from what I saw. But there's probably an issue with trying to be careful as to not say something they're not supposed to, especially giving out spoilers..

GST does seem like a pretty cool guy, right now I have some choices I don't like with from the little info we have and I'll probably knock him around a bit more before the new show premieres (not to mention after it does) but I don't hate the guy or anything. I save that for my "arch nemesis", Harald Belker.

Agreed, it's quite horrible especially when friends and/or family are lost in a drunken state of mind as often as possible.

I definitely agree with you Matt, but I think what was being said here was that we all want the actors behind our favorite characters to be someone we can look up to and admire. As of right now it appears that Justin and Deanna are very nice, normal and albeit still inexperienced and innocent. I know we all wish DH could be superhuman but unfortunately actors are fallible people just like you or me and they are never going to be able to live up to our ideals. I think when we joke like this it might simply be us covering the hurt we might be feeling.

It's true...

I found the three of them to be the most fan friendly and approachable of all the cast that showed up, save for Bruce Davidson who was also generous with his time. The newer members of the cast, not so much but in all fairness they did arrive later due to an accident and with SDCC keeping their panels in line, maybe they just didn't have time to interact.

However Justin, Deanna, and GST went out of their way to answer questions, sign autographs, and pose for pictures with the fans. While I know that GST had to answer some questions with a more vague approach (mostly to keep what they plan to do secret), he was very approachable and took a geniune interest in hearing what people had to say, even if they didn't agree with his choices.

Clearly I has said before, I don't want this show to fail and I do not agree with many of the changes that NBCU has chosen to do. For me, I can view it as the "Next Generation" of Knight Rider up until a certain point but when you distance yourself from the original mythology that made Knight Rider successful in the first place it's very problematic. You're changing someone's perception of what they admired in the first place and that's always a problem be it Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Miami Vice, Battlestar Galactica and so on.

I belive for the most part all three of them are doing their best to meet the fans halfway. Its really going to come down to the writing, since we know the design thus far as left many things to be desired. A good story can still surpass weaker design simply because you can get used to something you don't first agree with over time, if it serves a purpose other then to sell toys or cars. You cannot get used to a weak story. Many studios think if they throw enough eye candy at audiences they can cruise on by with a weak script and they're learning that now people aren't impressed anymore. They desire more substance then bulletime cameras, hot cars, CGI sets, and things blowing up.

This is the challenge this new crew will have to contend with. In the end you really have to keep in mind that the original show is over at this point. It can't come back the way it was back in the day and even with the motion picture changes have to be made. It's really the extent of changes that will factor into whether the older and newer generation of fans will either accept these necessary alterations, or reject them.

If you have the spirit of Knight Rider in place and you really understand what made it work and continue to respect and tap into those elements, you can have something new and still capture the essence of Knight Rider that fans expect to experience all over again.

As far as people are concerned and personality, I give Justin Bruening, Deanno Russo, and Gary Scott Thompson my approval and support not because they signed things for me but because they've proven that underneath all the studio politics, they do care about the KR fandom and are willing to listen to the fans's suggestions to improve upon it.

nice post, VK... sumsit up very well and i completely agree with you!

while i'm not so fond of some decisions regarding the (car)-design, i really like the cast and think this series with GST at the helm has lots of potential. i just hope studio politics (Ford and NBC) won't interfere too much and let them tell the stories they want to tell!
i'll definately give this series a chance and i'm eager to see what they come up with!
