Its actually very funny....a couple hours after the reveal when any one could have their pictures taken with the car, tthe guy doing the voice of KITT relentlessly made fun of this "Mexican Doughnut" as he kept calling him,warnign members of the crowd to watch out for "El Doughnuto Bandito," and lots of other jests. Finally KITT convinced him to pose for a picture. The crowd ate it up.

Uh, KITT... when I said it would be great if you could round up some doughnuts, that’s not quite what I had in mind.

Is it me or does that back wheel in that picture look more like an inner tube, all shiny like that...???

I thought the costume was advertising a local donut shop. But it's actually from a new movie coming out, "Sex Drive". There are scenes with the donut in the trailer:

Knight of the Doughnut... Michael and KITT must face an evil, mustached, maniacal, mexican doughnut, that is terrorizing a small town. When the local sherrif's department come under fire at the local "pastry" shop, Michael and KITT must defy gravity , glaze, and sprinkles, as they attempt to turbo boost through the center of evil!
