Hey, just wondering if anyone here knows or has seen first-hand any of the locations used in the driving montages or city scenes, the mansion from Goliath Returns, the building from the foundation, stuff that's used in multiple episodes... etc.
Seeing this show has often made me want to just get in my car and drive cross-country on backroads. I wonder if anyone might know of a map outlying routes often used on the show, like a "Knight Rider Tour" or something... anyone have any insight on this?

I’m surprised no one has answered this one yet. I’ve still got Rookie status but I’ll give it my best shot since most of these places are in my neck of the woods.
I would start with the Universal Studios tour. I know a lot of scenes were shot on the lot. I can think of one in particular, “Halloween Knight.”
Next I would drive around the area. I have recognized near by streets like Lankershim Boulevard and Barham Boulavard as frequently traveled streets. I can recall an episode I think in season one where Michael says, “I wish we could be back in LA.” And right behind them is the Lankershim street sign. Ha Ha. And I know an oft repeated shot of KITT backing out of the Semi was shot on Barham outside of Griffith park. I think some others might have been Mulholland Drive.
Next up the Greystone Mansion.
http://www.greystonemansion.org/
This was the Knight Estate in the pilot episode.
Then comes the Arden Villa.
http://www.knightindustries.50megs.com/
FLAG headquarters.
Farther out of town you will find the Templin Highway. This is the one you are after if you are looking for a drive. Both Classic Knight Rider and the new Knight Rider movie were shot on this highway.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Templin_Highway
And close to that you will find the Saugus Speedway.
http://www.saugusspeedway.com/
The location of “Slammin Sammys” and I think some other episodes.
Now come on you guys, if I a newbie can pull that off the top of my head I think some of you operatives out there must have some more trivia to offer.

Here's one location, the "Bedford dam" from Knightmares and it was used also in Redemption of a Champion. It's Sepulveda dam located in Los Angeles:

Sue, Since you are in LA, would there be any chance you would be willing to go to specific filming locations and shoot photos of what they look like today? At your leisure of course. If we could provide screencaps showing street signs, etc... Like the following example. These are shots from
"TRUST DOESN'T RUST". As you can see, the fictional
Three Rings burger joint was at the intersection of
Pacific Avenue and 9th Street. There are reference points, such as the
Firestone tire center on one corner of
Pacific and 9th. The
Thrifty Drug Store and Newberry's on the other corner. It also appears there's a
Union 76 station on another corner. I realize that some of these businesses may probably have closed since then, but the intersection is still there. I think it would be great if from time to time a different location could be documented. Other members could help by going through episodes and finding other locations with street signs like these. Anyone interested in this project, please chime in.

That could be fun. Some day I’ll have to head down to that one. Perhaps there are other people in the area that would be up to helping me out. Maybe we could put together a Knight Rider tour. The only digital camera I have is on my video camera and it is very poor quality. I usually shoot film and then scan the negative, but that process is much more time consuming. But here is a challenge in return. I believe this location is in an episode somewhere, only I can’t remember what one. I do remember Michael saying something like, he wishes they could be back in LA. The shot was inside KITT with this church and I believe a 76 gas station where the empty lot (with trees) is in the second picture today. At the time I first watched it, I paused it, and you could see in the shot the street sign clearly read Lankershim. That sign would be the one you see here to the right of the church.

Good work! Even the phones are still there. The only difference, aside from the doors, they took out a bench and put in a handicap ramp. …and SHADO is sitting in for a cop car. I sure wish I could remember what episode those other shots were from.

one_man,
Did you take photos of those locations? If so, can you post them with addresses? Also, I would like to see the actual corner that the THREE RINGS was. Is there still a building there? By the way, did anyone notice that the menu board that KARR smashes said THREE RING not THREE RINGS.

The debris field behind the Psycho house looks like the crash scene set from the Tom Cruise, WAR OF THE WORLDS.

Hi, kitt1,
I have hundreds of photos of the locations I visited.
I will post them once I sort things out.
I did take a pic of the 'drive thru' place of the 'Three Rings'.
I happened to capture the '..Taco' sign in the photo so I
was able to google it. It's 'El Taco' today.
enjoy!

one_man, Great shots! You did your homework and shot your NOW photos from the same spot and angle. Would you happen to have a shot of the back of EL TACO from the same angle where KARR pulls up to the drive through order menu board? That would be cool to see.

Sorry, I don't have a photo from that angle. I was too focused on the street corner and
took only one shot at the drive thru as posted above. I hope someone in LA area could
visit there and take more photos (I live in San Diego).

Anyone recognize any of the rural areas, from the driving montages?
