FLAG –
The Foundation for Law and Government. An organization funded by the estate of Wilton Knight and other donors. FLAG is behind the creation of all the Knight Rider (KR) cars.
HTDD –
High Traction Drop Downs. Added in the original series second season in the episode Speed Demons when KI2T needed to compete with motorcycles on a dirt track.
KI2T –
Knight Industries Two Thousand. The second intelligent car created by Knight Industries and Wilton Knight. The first being KARR. KI2T appears in the original series as a Trans Am, in Team Knight Rider as a computer projecting a hologram named Shadow, and in Knight Rider 2000 as a 57 Chevy.
KI3T –
Knight Industries Three Thousand. A Shelby GT500KR Mustang that appears in the 2008 NBC television series Knight Rider. KI3T utilizes different technology than KI2T. Namely his NanoTechnology (NT). This allow him to morph and gives him protection in a similar way as KI2Ts Molecularly Bonded Shell (MBS) did.
KIFT-
Knight Industries Four Thousand. A car similar to a Pontac Banshee appeared in the television movie Knight Rider 2000. He had a heads up display that used the windshield as a video monitor. KI2T was installed into this car by Michael Knight.
KR –
Knight Rider. A universe which was launched on September 26 1982 by its creator Glen A. Larson and NBC Universal.
KRO –
Knight Reformulation One.
“Created to replace KITT and Michael Knight and usher in a new era…. Now however it must be stopped.”
A black Ferrari originally created by the Foundation for law and Government (FLAG) but turned evil, much the same as KARR did in the original series. This car appeared in episode 4 of Team Knight Rider (TKR) the episode which aired October 30 1997 was aptly named KRO.
KRO also stands for Knight Rider Online, a website that launched in 1995 two years before the car that would share its namesake. It was begun as a school project by a man who goes by the name of neps.
KARR -
Knight Automated Roving Robot. A prototype for KI2T that appeared in the original series. The fatal flaw of KARR was that he was programmed for self preservation and not with Isaac Asimov’s three laws of Robotics. This caused KARR to go on a rampage where he would go head to head with KI2T on several occasions.
MBS –
Molecular Bonded Shell. The top secret formula called the Knight Compound was developed by the Foundation for Law and Government. (FLAG) It protects the Knight Industries Two Thousand (KI2T). The knowledge of the ingredients of the formula were dispersed over three men so that no one man could be tortured into revealing the secret. Devon Miles was one of these three men.
NT –
Nano Technology. Used in the new 2008 NBC television show Knight Rider by the Knight Industries Three Thousand (KI3T) Nano Technology is microscopic robots that are controlled by an over all CPU. KI3T uses this technology to change shape and to defend himself from bullets and blasts in a similar way as KI2Ts Molecular Bonded Shell (MBS) did.
SPM –
Super Pursuit Mode. A feature that was introduced in the fourth season of the original series in the episode Knight of the Juggernaut. It provided a 40% boost in speed beyond the Knight Industries Two Thousands (KI2T) original top speed of 300 MPH. First used in Episode 70, "Knight of the Juggernaut"
VM –
Voice Modulator. In the original series KI2Ts VM was a three bared LED light placed behind the steering wheel, while in the new NBC backdoor pilot KI3T uses a visualizer that is part of his center mounted monitor.
