New show premieres September 24th, 2 hours?

From Variety:

"Wednesdays are also back on premiere week, with newcomer "Knight Rider" bowing at 8 p.m. on Sept. 24, along with the return of "Lipstick Jungle," which airs at 10 p.m."

This implies that it will be a 2-hour premiere, and from what we heard from Gary Scott Thompson it would be a new movie and not just a repeat of the pilot that aired in February.

Oh dear, Michael, you know how sensitive my circuits are. Has anyone seen Bonnie?

Well that’s okay, if it’s true they have two more weeks to fix everything up in post. I expect perfection this time people.

Are we sure this is going to be a new episode? Or is it the tv movie again to start the series off?

We don't know for sure. But it seems REALLY unlikely to me that NBC would show a rerun during their biggest week of the year. Premiere week is a time for new programming, not reruns. And Gary Scott Thomson made it clear that although the series is a continuation of the 2008 pilot, he also considers that movie to stand on its own and there will be enough changes in his vision that would warrant another 2-hour movie. It wouldn't surprise me if NBC burned off another airing of the February pilot sometime in August however.

It won't be a rerun of the pilot. They're going a different direction and the last thing they need to do is begin the new series with the February pilot. It will be one hour, with some reality show between KR and Lipstick Jungle.

I think GST figures that the September episode he's writing (# 101) will be the new pilot.

So are we sure it’s no longer on for the 10th? I know Justin’s site is still saying that anyway, not that it’s been updated or anything. But I do think some NBC shows were starting up the week of the 10th. (Course Sep 11 is not a good week to start on.)

You can’t blame NBC for planning on reality shows, not with all these strikes and strike threats going on. I’m kind glad it’s not another two hours. Enough back story, I’m happy with the one we got, let’s just dive into this thing and see what it’s all about. Till then I’m just gonna sit here, put out my car fire and worry about the TONE OF THE SHOW.

Wednesday falls on the 10th so I'm sure it'd air on the 10th unless for some reason they've changed their minds and are moving it to Thursday for the premiere, which makes no sense unless they want to set it up to fail. I'm curious as to how big and significant the changes are going to be, hopefully they're all for the better.

I should have paid more attention.... But yeah, September 24th is the confirmed date the new KR debuts.
