ok so Ki3t and MT (and SG) communicated by headset initially...

but then in the casino MT tells Ki3t when the blackriver guys are chasing, to look for other people wearing the same headsets BECAUSE THIS WOULD STAND OUT!!!!

whereas a wrist communicator would be less obvious as everyone wears a watch...

we need an update of the watch...

I think that today, a wrist communicator would be a little goofy.

Look, in the 80's there really wasn't any true mobile communication, so it was OK to go the Dick Tracy Route. Today, everyone's got a communication device. There's nothing special about it, except that he's communicating with a car. So, the wristwatch would come off as a gimmick, and would pull people out of the story, I think.

the fact the headsets were used to identify the other guys is my point...

watch communicators arent commonplace...

put it this way....

if you capture a guy who you believe is in communication with someone else, you would confiscate an earpiece before a watch....

the watch was less conspicuous...

im well up for an update of the 80s watch but the headset is an OBVIOUS communication device, especially now the new series is trying to link MT with the FBI and other current military influences...

cut an enemy's communication, you cut them off from help... MT would have known that

21st century, headsets are commonplace AS COMMUNICATION devices!!!

They could make it so KITT can talk to him on whatever piece of modern technology he has on in that episode, blue tooth phone or whatever. Say he wants to be undercover and is listening to tunes on his I pod, to the outside observer he would look like he is a young kid completely engulfed in his own world. No one would suspect that KITT can butt in on his songs and talk into his ear with some vital bit of information.

nah, as a fan of gadgets (BECAUSE of the original) i wouldnt buy that now as a kid...

i like some of what (ahem) TKR did with the idea, all having different watches and now and again a covert camera... (cant remember the episode where the supposed daughter of MK had one in a fake flower in a hat...)

why couldnt MT have a watch with a vid display on it that could show CCTV remotely etc, but then in public, it shows 'the time....'

plus Bruening seems more of an action guy than DH in his day, so first punch, the headset would be flung off...

generally its impractical

Hey a ear piece can be made really small you know. I suppose the writer didn't notice people would notice this instead of the whole KITT episode features ect. Maybe next time an earpeice could be on their list of the most noticed item to make perfect.
SERIOUSLY guys you need a grip its a show, watch goofy, Earpiece simple. I'm sure the new producer is on this forum undercover and listening to us it is possible that an IPod could be used though it is ver impractical when doing a mission (he wouldn't walk into a bussiness building with an IPod on.

I think there is no other way to communicate that looks decent

I wasn’t thinking they’d use an Ipod all the time, but I think it would make a good joke in one episode. As for if the writers and producers are listening in on us, I’m guessing so, but their lawyers tell them they have never heard of this site. It’s okay if they steal from us a little. As long as they give us props.

I think it would be good to use a watch as a back-up communication device. The watch could also show video from KITT's perspective - so it could be useful in other ways besides back-up communication. :)

i agree with the ear piece idea, i mean it worked perfect in all the mission impossible movies although at one part in the third one he(Tom Cruise/Ethan Hunt) used a head piece kinda like in the KR pilot. i think the ear piece would be the best option
