Knight Rider at Buckingham Palace?

I recently returned from London on my honeymoon and my wife and I went and saw the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace (where the Queen lives).

I swear to you that during the ceremony, the band played the theme from Knight Rider! It was actually my wife that noticed it first. They repeated the main part of the theme several times dueing what was a longer piece of music.

So my question is - was the Knight Rider theme based from another piece of music? Or was someone in the Queens guard a fan and decided to throw a little KR in?

On the season 1 DVD commentary Glen A Larson did mention the Knight Rider theme was based in part on a classical composition. He stated he heard some pieces of classical music redone on a synthesizer and the KR theme was inspired by it. I can't remember what piece the KR theme came from but it was inspired from a piece of classical music.
