Should KITT have a 'girlfriend'?

I was brainstorming today and the thought hit me - what if KITT had a girlfriend? And if he did, what should she be installed in? Just a thought...
Then again, I think if he did have a lady friend, there would be no more

for KITT. Which is bad.

Horrible idea. That would seriously make it cheesy.

I don't know, I mean what if it was a foreign AI project (say from Italy, Germany, or England, still deciding)? Mayve she's only supposed to be staying for a little while to see how Kitt and Michael work and pick up a few pointers. Kitt's supposed to be her trainer, but ends up something much more serious...
Any better? Or is this still in the no?

Good heavens, was it that bad?

Well it does sound rather like Herbie the Love Bug to have cars falling in love.
What if, though, the new KITT became fascinated by a human woman. It could be more of a mind crush.
Maybe she thinks like KITT in a weird way. Maybe she could be a freelance agent too.

That kinda defeats the whole purpose of my idea, but I do see where you're coming from and I'll give it a shot.

Hm...
Good question...
Either
A Pontiac solistice
A Porche (Like Cars Sally Carrera)
A Ford Thunderbird 2005 (Retrobird Halle Berry's car in the world is not enough)
2006 Ford Mustang Giugiaro

Oh I've seen the Italian Stallion, it's a beautiful car : ) I think the Porsche, being used in Cars already, is out of the question, and I personally don't think a Thunderbird would cut it for an advanced AI. As much as I would love to hire the Solstice for the job, since it's a foreign AI the Giu would have to be it.
Unfortunately, since all this takes place in 1985, I can't use it.
I was, however, considering a Ferrari 512TR. Opinions on this?

I think it's possible for a person (or AI, but for most intents and purposes in KR they're the same!) to love someone without getting totally wrapped up in them.
There are people that can love practically (like my parents) and people that love impractically. (like a woman who shoots down her man when she finds out he's cheating). My 2 cents.... I think women are more inclined to love impractically. Not saying guys are immune to that, but it's been my observation. I think KITT could keep emotions and work separated.
And if it has to be a foreign chick, make her classy.

I presume it would be easier for an AI to be fluent in 2 languages, unless KITT will start speaking Italian...
The idea of an AI falling for a woman kinda squicks me out though. Physically... without getting X-rated... that would be a tad... difficult.

Well, they won't be together forever. Only about a month until the she-car has to go back to Italy and keep the streets there safe.

Well two cars isn't much easier

Haha, no, but possibly not as much bodily harm as car/human...
But really- isn't that the point of fanfic- to explore individual ideas and different stuff? Or did I miss the memo?

My question is - would either of them be possible?

That depends. Now if you take it as far as two writers (I won't throw out names) did with putting Kitt in an android and making him and Michael gay...then sometimes the story is better left unwritten, or at least unpublicized. That's how I understand what Phoenix meant.

Yeah.... I sort of drew my line there too.
Re: first question... I think that could be possible, but that's just me. Write something and see how it rolls, it never hurts to try.

Hey there. I can't give you any specific advice, since, unfortunately, I really don't know much about older cars, but I just wanted to add my opinion to the mayhem.
I'm adamantly pro-fanfic, even though a lot of my friends fault me for it. While I understand the viewpoint that "good writers should do their own creative work," it's just so darn satisfying to write and read about a world you've already fallen in love with.
What I meant by saying all of that is that you shouldn't let anyone's negative feedback bother you. Go ahead and write about KITT's girlfriend. Sometimes some of the most ridiculous ideas (no offense intended, since the show itself is a bit ridiculous) make the best stories. Similarly, although original characters are often looked down upon in the fanfic world, they are often extremely likable and well-written!
Am I babbling? I must be tired.

I've reached this conclusion - if you don't want to read it, then don't. But no matter what I'm going to give it a shot.
...Maybe Karr should have a girlfriend...HAHA! NO WAY!

I'm in the process of writing something absurd (not what I posted about in that other thread- something else)
so you should do it. Never hurts to fill up a little RAM on something that's fun to write.

You could call her KA.T. (Knight Automated Transport). She could have a pink colored voice modulator. Mike and K.I.T.T. could make wisecracks about her head lights and back bumper. I'll stop now.

The problem is the name Kat is taken by that motorcycle in TKR.
But the bumper remark puts a whole new spin on the term "car bra"...

KI.T.T. could make comments about how fast she is.
On another forum (IMDB) somebody made a very rude, juvenile, sexist and sophmoric joke about what they could call a female version of K.A.R.R. in the new series, which I won't repeat here.

I'd simply just choose a red 1982 Trans Am just like K.I.T.T. with a scanner and T-top. I had a small red wind-up toy of one as a child and thought of it as K.I.T.T.'s girlfriend (bear in mind I was also 4 years old

).
The only time in the series we get a hint of what kind of counterpart K.I.T.T. would be interested in is in "Deadly Knightshade" where he tells the blonde woman, "
Ohh, something very stylish, preferably in red, loaded with sophisticated software, total artificial intelligence, fully padded seat, removable top, with an adaptive megabyte system that can interface for hours." Of course Domino from
Team Knight Rider fits that description, but I like the idea of a red Trans Am better.

Removable top? My, KITT, how naughty!

I just got hung up on "padded seat" and "interface for hours".
Oh dear... how did I miss that line? Is it on Youtube?
