That would be wonderful to have diversionary mini-games in the form of 80's arcades. Imagine it would be fairly easy to pull off, too...if the details were light. Like a Pac-man clone. Or a Pong clone. Asteroids clone. One of those overhead driving clones. All have like one stage and just endlessly repeat until life count equals zero. Play for top points. Perhaps, even get fancier with a game or two that never was. Say, an Airwolf arcade. I could see that as Chop Lifter that stood a chance in combat.

Loved the spyhunter arcade game, the first and second spyunters on playstation2.I think so many games copied the engine of that game including a flash knight rider game. The 3rd I think was the best of them all with the switching between car mission mode and playing as the Rock mode. They put him in one of those motion capture suits for his moves to be digitally perfect in terms of full body movement.Ahead of its time for the PS2 games.

Ahhh...but, if there's going to be a Spy Hunter clone...THERE MUST BE a cheat code that puts KITT into the scenario. Granted. It would literally be a God Mode, as no spiked wheels or limo sniper or Bullet Proof Bully is ever going to shove KITT off the road. But, you'd also have to fore-go the weapons in exchange.

No. Wait. I'm thinking way too linear, here. The 'Weapons van' would suddenly become the mobile HQ and can conduct repairs. And, the foes would have to be from the show with far superior forms of attack then just spikes and a shot gun. KITT would take damage over just dying in one hit. Still be a God mode to the original Spy Hunter. But, it could translate. The more I think of it, the more it truly seems natural to include. By gads, even the water stage is possible. Just that KITT turbo skims over the water instead of converting to a Knight Boat form. But, would we still get Peter Gunn or the KR theme?

Anyone ever play this knight rider flash/spyhunter ripoff?

Game files must have gotten corrupt a long time ago.

For a fan game, you guys have done an amazing job.

I do have one complaint -- yes, I know, everybody has one, though I feel this one is a good one:

The music score. It just brings it down. Have you tried talking with Don Peake? He's a nice guy.

Being a programmer AND a 3-D model artist is asking a lot for a volunteer staff. But, fantastic musician on top of that??? We're only Human, after all.

Sadly there's no way of using original KR score without risking the whole project being shut down by NBC/Universal... however, we have 2 composers on the team - one specialised in film music and one specialized in 80s beats that really get that KR feel :-)

However, if you happen to have the original score as mp3's there's no need to worry - you can put in your own music!

Nobody's reading what I said: try talking to him about doing music. I didn't say re-use score -- he'd create new score, if you could get him. I didn't say be talented musicians, I said talk to Peake.

If, in the best outcome, you mamaged to get him for the music, he can make it sounds just liek the show without actually re-using themes.

Don't be pre-emptively defeatist. :-)

New theme? I think the fans will be disappointed If the don't hear even the first 4 notes of the original theme.

I know that when I took a stab at making a KR game, I learned very early one that while the theme song is nice to hear once, you most certainly don't want it to loop.

It might be very hard to claim copyright to having two synthesizer keys pressed several times over... ;P

I was thinking of another perfect mini-game to add into the arcade. It's aptly named, too. Night Driver.

One of the very early 3-D driving games. It basically featured a lone driver, heading down a country road...at night. No traffic to dodge. No fancy graphics to speak of. Nothing but the bare essentials. Heck. The car you were seeing wasn't even drawn by the computer. All it was was you and the road. A no line, back water road with lots of markers. You drove between the markings as the road twisted and turned. This video says it all, including arcade body design. http://youtu.be/J6eFsRodPGQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Nothing but black and white with moving lines.

I also thought I'd bump this topic back up to the top.

Oh, dude. I just learned about this about an hour or so back. So, I'd say it is A MUST to have inside your virtual arcade.

Seems that way back in the day, Atari was going to be making a bunch of arcade games that utilized the Laser Disc technology. If it held the same promise as the BattleStar Galactica surviving footage proposed arcade game, ( http://youtu.be/hoUwU6dqSsQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - Though impressive, I got to warn you that it's hard to watch...almost as if it were on Max Headroom vision. I can't even tell why the approach into the landing bay scene is flying like a drunk doing 360 degree rotations.) then the Knight Rider laser disc arcade might have been jaw dropping...back in the day.

Here's what I'd propose. Make a virtual arcade body. Go awesome and make it a sit in. Have some KR appropriate graphics on the side. Give the interior a sort of KITT style cockpit with the gullwing and flashy lights/digital read outs. On the monitor, have it run the opening credits...perhaps, use the same footage as the YouTube video that's only linked to this long message thread. Then, have the screen go to an error message with old style text. Say something like 'FILE NOT FOUND'. Then, the opening credits roll and the thing repeats. Have a big 'OUT OF ORDER' sign stuck to the side of the cabinet, too.

Why? Because next to nobody probably knows what this game was going to be. It would most assuredly be a driving game. And use clips from the show. But, past that, I don't think there's a whole lot out there to draw from. Would make a great historical reference without drawing too many conclusions.

The project is still alive and kicking! For the last months, there hasn't really been any news to post, since we're mostly trying to get the game mechanics in top shape. That basically only covers code and plug-ins for the game builder, which isn't really interesting to post about.

However, there is news coming up in two weeks - Ken will be attending a huge indie event in Germany, where he'll explain the game's story to the huge group of game and Kight Rider fans, as well as showing off what we actually did these last months. So, don't worry and stay tuned, there's more to come in the next weeks! :good:

There is an official web site out there for this game. I've been rather slack in checking up on it, as of late. Especially as the chat board log in uses some kind of anti-bot tech that isn't playing fair with these browsers of mine. But, I don't think the game is anywhere near dead in the water.

I'll be honest I come to this site about once a month, I'm just so busy working on things I just don't have the time anymore. This is why I always kind of try to direct you guys to our facebook page as its the most productive from me and Daan. Our project has taken us to Germany to show it off at Frankfurt StoryDrive International, we were invited to GDC this year but I couldn't afford the flight to California. Just not enough hours in a day to develop a game and maintain a website and several forum posts and throw in a personal life with two kids to boot. I would love to post every time what I'm working on but some of its sooooo boring it wouldn't be worth your (or my own) time lol.

But with that said... we're still hard at work, we're far from being a dead or forgotten project I still put in at minimum 12 hours a day on this project. Today I just finished a 16 hour stretch on perfecting our turbo boost code and thought I would go forum browsing. This project is a lot to chew on and is a rather huge project for just a few guys and no budget. Originally we planned to just put out a fan game with some mediocre graphics and some ok game play. Something like a Knight Rider 3 from Davilex but us making it instead. Well all that changed and we are going for a GTA like experience with high res graphics, full body motion capture, facial animation capture, and a few other goodies. Right now we are faced with a temporary budget problem but that doesn't mean we can't work on other parts of the game while something else is holding us up.

On another note If anyone is coming to Southern Knights Atlanta this year you will get an exclusive look at the game and an opportunity to play our demo if there is enough time.

Well I, for one, had just mentioned your site on another chat about private game building as an example that a Kickstarter isn't a necessary step in making a game dream come true. And, I've seen you dreaming of this game for a decade or more. It'll set a new standard in home brew gaming and I hope the private world of gamers gets to know that.

I used to be the beta tester for MSken, Considering that I haven't heard from him in years with a new build and the last post from him regarding the game was March 20th, 2015, I think it's dead in the water. He kept saying he had to keep switching graphic game engines because every few years a new one came out with better quality for about close to a decade. After that I gave up hope on that game.

Yeah, I use to have an account on the website for it and asked a couple questions and the game looked awesome, but that was about 2-3 years ago in August. Now there's nothing and the website says they're testing multiplayer but it's said that for a year or two now.
