You would be better off with the Saturn than a Ford Probe. The Saturn looks much more like K.I.T.T. compared to a Ford probe...in fact I don't see any resemblance whatsoever between a Probe and a 3rd generation Trans Am. The Probe is also discontinued, so finding parts for it may be a pain in the neck (not sure if the Mazda MS6 [which would be the parts you'd be buying] is discontinued as well?) whereas a Saturn is a very common car and would be easier to get parts.
Handzus' Stupid Fro- It can be done for 4th generation Firebirds, here's what it would look like with a scanner:

I drive a 1996 Honda Civic sedan automatic...and I do love it! Sure its old, but it still runs great...offers outstanding fuel economy, blows ice cold air inside and best of all....has abundant replacement parts everywhere at reasonable prices. It's very solid inside and out, I would definitely recommend a Honda just from personal experience alone. And Honda also boasts of high resale value. I don't think Ford can match those traits.Arjun wrote:How about a Honda? Those cars are a lot more reliable, and cheaper to run.[/i]

There was once a ricer body kit available, wish I knew the name...something cutesy like street fyter 3 or something, that looked like it was based on KITT. Had the cutout for a scanner and everything. Some kid has one in my town and thought that would look good on my Honda. Unfortuantely ricer kits are as much as the KITT/KARR conversion stuff, so until my KITT is done, my 2000 civic's gonna stay stock.Arjun wrote:Do a great deal of plastic surgery on the Honda, till it looks like a T/A!Army_F_Body wrote:I'm gonna forget I heard the Honda recomendation
I agree Honda's are great. I gotta drive this since it would bankrupt me to drive KITT for a week. What I would spend on one week of gas on the T/A would last me a month in the Honda

KITT project is on again!

The more you post then your rank will change.
I think that in Board Dealings forum here there is an explaination of how many posts you need to reach each level.
When I was out shopping tonight, I saw a black Ford Probe. At first I thought it was a KITT until I got closer and found the FORD insignia on the front and thought "is that a probe?" until I got to the back and saw it IS a probe. With the owner and his SO looking under it and the "oh yeah, I see it... that's what that klanking noise was?" Uhm... didn't sound too good.

FuzzieDice- Why do you hate on Chevy so much? Chevy and Pontiac is basically the same thing. Your neighbor with the crappy Cavailer would probably have the same problem if he was driving a Pontiac Sunfire.
HondaSIR- "Why Does Everyone hate on Ford so much?" I tell you why becuase THEY SUCK! You ever saw the amount of recalls they have? Last Week and early this week Ford mentioned severall recalled on their "Fine Cars.
Death to Ford and the Red Sox!

Don't voice it out on me, it was Arjun who asked that question. I really don't believe in Ford myself, I'm more of a fan of Japanese autos (Honda, Toyota, etc.)TurbomanKnight wrote:HondaSIR- "Why Does Everyone hate on Ford so much?" I've only owned one Chevy, an 83 Camaro SC, and had less problems with that car than the 83 T/A I had a few years ago, and the 92 Firebird I have now.
Wish I would have kept that old thing. That little 305 could sure toast a new (for 1995 anyway) Mustang!

The Fords we get in India are not original Fords sold in the US, but mostly European (Mondeo) or a car specially made for India (Ikon), which hardly ever give problems, except that they're weak, and small, with small engines, but those are the vehicles which the public here choose. How are the Mustang, Taurus and Crown?I tell you why becuase THEY SUCK! You ever saw the amount of recalls they have? Not bad for a fake Countach! That red car looks just like one on a calender I just bought at the dollar store called "Power Wheels"

I just had this idea... here is a wallpaper of KITT as he might look in a Knight Rider 3000 movie - as a Lamborghini Countach! I think he'd look kick-ass like this! If anyone wants to make a fake Countach KITT, this would be cool!

I have had a Ford Mustang and Ford Windstar and both transmissions went out on me within 3 years but my husband has had two probes,90 and 95 and they ran and ran so you never know. he has had good experience with probes so everyone has different experinces. The Probe looks pretty cool so if that is the only car my husband will let me convert to a Kitt, I will be ok with it.

Your in luck cause Don Colie at http://www.adiautotech.com has made a 4th gen KITT nose that looks awesome. He has a prototype 4th gen car that he brought to the nationals last year. It's for the 93-97 4th gens, but he says later he will make a 98-02 version which is what I will be waiting for because when I can afford to get another car I would like a 98-02 T/A.Handzus' Stupid Fro wrote:I've got a 95 Firebird I wonder how I could incorporate the scanner... theres nowere to put it!!!
Looked awesome from the pics I saw of it. Might wanna email him to see if he still has the picks up. Don does great work, but that quality usually comes at a steep price.
Rob Louisell, the maker of my nose, also offers a banshee inpsired 4th gen nose that looks pretty sharp. You can see it at http://www.roblouisell.com.
I've purchased from both and highly recomend each of them. Rob's prices are a little more poor-college-student-friendlier than Don's, but both offer exceptional quality and workmanship.
Edit: Totally forgot about http://www.knightdriver.com. This guy is the greatest and is currently putting alot of hardwork into a set of season 1/2 switch pod buttons for me. He has some photoshopped pics of a 98-02 T/A KITT concept that if I'm not mistaken he plans to bring into reality someday. None-the-less a great website to look around at.

how about a 2005 ford mustang GT
If I had my choice, it would be the all new 2005 mustang GT. Ford has gone back to the 60's with its next generation mustang.
I plan on buying a black one as soon as I can. Then I plan on Kittizing it.
I'm going to put a red scanner on the front and upgrade the interior. First I am going to put in a couple small moniters, a keyboard, some fake key pads with turbo boost, pursuit mode, etc. Also I'm going to put in a gas pedal with the lights, and some kind of screen that looks like KITTs main frame. I'm going to keep the mustangs retro dash though. Ford has it coming with different colored lights, I'm going with red. Of course I'm going to have tan for the interior, probably leather though. It should look cool.
If GM had'nt wimped out by discontinuing the Camero and Firebird, I probably go that way. But they did and KITT belongs in an american muscle car.
That is how I feel.
What do you all think.
If you do a search for 2005 mustangs, you'll see what the car looks like along with the new dash. Check out the turbo boost gauge, cool.
p.s. I'm also going to install a steering wheel like the origanal Knight 2000

I think KR2K had the right idea for the direction future KITTs need to take. Start with a stock vehicle but modify it to the point wher it is hardly recognizable. In essence a custom one-off vehicle. So maybe if a Mustang is used as a base to build off of I could see it, but not just a stock car with a scanner.
I'd be interested in seeing your finished product. Aren't the new 'stangs in the price range of a new Vette?
