I do believe that the other webmasters who have answered and have had some form of conflict have answered that in their other posts: if you credit the source, then you can use it. But don't take everything from a site verbatim, and at least give credit where credit is due, preferrably after asking the webmasters. But bottom line: give credit for the pictures, and don't copy word for word off of a site. It's not that much to ask, is it?

A couple of tips...

For starters, in most cases this is more an issue of "courtesy" than copyright. If someone scans in a photo from a magazine, they don't suddenly get legal ownership of that image.

I think you'll find in most cases if you email a webmaster and ask if you can borrow some of their images, they will gladly say "sure go ahead" and request that you include a site "images courtesy of so-and-so" - the link should be NEAR the images, not buried in an "About this site" page.

Speaking for myself as a webmaster, I don't have a problem with people taking a few photos to use on their site. But if for example they copy all of my Goliath images to create an episode guide which has all the same pics as mine, then that I take issue with. Because in that case, they are duplicating the creative effort I made to select and assemble a photo album. I don't have much claim over an individual image, but I DO feel possessive towards the COLLECTION of images.

In terms of any original graphics or text created on a website, my philosophy is "hands-off". It is our writings and graphics work that make our websites unique and special, so I would never dream of taking someone else's original work.

And as other people have mentioned in this thread, the most important thing is to think in terms of bringing something new to the online community. It doesn't have to be anything spectacular; it can simply be your own description of an episode or characters.

The Knight Foundation (http://www.krfoundation.com) has been around for close to two years now.

The other site that Mike has shown: http://www.knight-foundation.com has been around for about three years or more, that I remember.

Rather interestingly, your banner also seems to feature two vehicles that look a lot like Davilex game drawings of KITT (and KARR.) I could be wrong on that however, they do look pretty neat.
