We don't actually know what Ki3t's mission IS yet...

GST has always said that Ki3t is learning for a reason...

I know that this is the obvious answer, but:
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
K.I.T.T. is learning and is partnered with Mike for a reason -- Mike can teach him things no one else can, GST says. I'm betting it has something to do with those theories as K.I.T.T. as an unstoppable weapon (which would tie in nicely with Mike's missing background, and the recurring theme of war making men do unpredictable things). We already know that Knight Industries have created smart missiles (the "K.I.7"), so I don't believe that this K.I.T.T. has been built with the same motives as the 2000 model.

I'd have to disagree as so far we've seen Ki3t set alight, burnout after transforming mid turbo boost, get knocked out by a next gen EMP and then in the most recent ep we've seen ki3t's nano skin struggle with modified bullets that had explosive charges. Its one of my little gripes with the new series, I think the audience needs to see ki3t be indestructible without a hint of damage for the majority of the series in order for it to have real impact to Ki3t's character when something DOES go wrong.... I am not doubting that what the car has been subjected to so far would not damage it, just its too early in the lives of the characters involved and people new to knight rider wont be as invested in the idea of Ki3t's character because we're being shown the vulnerabilities of the machine/software on a weekly basis...

:kitt: :karr:

I certainly hope not. In a way, Michael was an adopted son to Wilton Knight, I know it wasn't official, but that would have sort of been wierd for him to sleep with Wilton's daughter. Also, She is in the first episode of season 4, and they aren't getting along, and by the time of that episode Mike would have been like 3 years old considering his birthdate. You would think if they had a child together they'd be getting along better than that.

But...
PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER_SHOW PRIME_BBCODE_SPOILER:
...that's what Mike has to offer K.I.T.T. -- he is, whether he knows it or not, teaching the car how to be a "good soldier". Also, if K.I.T.T. is learning about/from his vulnerabilities, that will make him stronger in the long term. And if this K.I.T.T. (or any K.I.T.T.) turned into a bad weapon, would you really fancy your chances against it? I certainly wouldn't! :)
Just my thoughts on the subject :)

Jennifer Knight (ie. Wilton's daughter) wasn't Mike's mother. There is a thread around here somewhere where we speculated on Mike's conception dates -- it would have had to have been between September and November, 1982, realistically for a June '83 birth, so it was in one of Michael's "in-between" missions during the first 9 shows ;)

Right and she doesn't have to be one of the ladies from any of those episodes, she could very well have been one his his "lady friends" that he clearly had all over the south west that he took detours to visit. I think it'd easier to just go about it that way instead of trying to make it fit in with anyone we "know" of.

Yes. The reason why this type of AI was created in the first place is so that previously unforeseen factors could be taken into consideration by the AI, during a future confrontation. That is, without actually punching the code in. It's unlikely KITT will joke his way out a pinch anytime soon, but it's part of the same package. And one that's dramatically a lot more interesting than an all-knowing, stale computer car.

Well for a mission per-se no but it does help improve KITT's social skills though...
