Its great on laminate flooring, only problem is I haven't enough to get up full speed and not sure about taking it outside as don't wanna scratch it.

Bought one about an hour back from Comet. Its fun for a quick wizz around the floor - will probably end up with it on my desk though, looks really smart!

Word of advice - I tried taking the bumper off, looks better BUT the screws for the bumper hold the front of the chassis in place. I would wanna drive it around without the bumper as the top is liable to fly off!

Mine seems to reverse faster for some odd reason :-P

no, you can take the screws out of the front spoiler and just re-screw the top to the bottom. Do you get what I mean?

I found that the screws then traveled too far into the chassis and could end up damaging the internals.

....use some rubber washers. Should be able to get some at your hardware store.

Anyway after promising my siblings not to buy anything leading upto my birthday (16th Oct).....I finally picked it up today. Siblings had very little lucky but I went into my local Comet in Barking, East London and they had them in stock. Counter girl could not resist having a quick tap on the try feature  ....and theres me just coming back from work in a suit jacket! Not even a hint of shame!

Got talking to the store manager. They had the Dukes car last year and he said they couldn't get enough of them in as they kept selling out. He expects even more of sell out for KITT.

Whet, the turboboost feature is abit of a rip-off. Most cars of this type (even the old KR RC cars) have a two speed forward motion built in. Still its a great looking car, lots of fun, more lights than I expected and boy is it noisy!

My dad runs a plastic fabrication business. I'm gonna look into replacing the existing bumper with something a little less 'in your face', I may even be able to replace it with the tow bar used in the TV series.

Oh and me being how I am, I had the lid off within about 10 mins. Its quite a basic layout internally - makes me wonder if there is anything that could be modified motor wise?

Thats what I was thinking when I opened it up aswell. KITT looks really cool without the front plastic lip ruining the lines of the car. The motor is probably soldered but it should be simple to add a higher quality motor. Trick is finding the right spec....chance are Hitari spent most of the money on light, speakers and programming. However the biggest problem will be the limited 4x AA battery supply.

I took mine apart and dumped the silly yellow front lights for white ones, I also wanna ditch the antenna, but range isn't so good.

Im tempted to take them out all together. Its annoying that they only work when the car is moving.

Its an R/C Car it wasn't designed to be perfect!

WOW that's expensive the link you put. 70 POUNDS! Mines $79.95 with a free dvd!

I changed mine over, its possible that you can affect the performance of the car by changing them to a brighter LED.

Dont think anyone expected it to be perfect.....just fan-made mods are common on RC cars. so expect large heatsinks and dylithium-powered motors anytime soon

Your right though, we only have 4x AA batteries to play with so any mods would hamper duration.

Ebay scalpers as they are called!!! I cant see how anyone could justify that cost considering the car is becoming easy to pickup in the UK. Its a shame as I know a great deal of ebay people (including our James_kr) who are competive with their prices and helping out the fans. I know I sold quite abit of my collection a while back at low prices.

All you need is 2x 5mm white LEDs, I replaced mine. I was gonna have a LED behind each lense and rear lights, but decided against it as thought it would be too much on the batteries and much easier to change a LED than install a load more.

looks great Andy-KITT, i was going to do the same thing with the extra lights if I do it I might put a seperate battery add another switch and be able to turn on the other lights for other times.

Yeah, when I was asking what to do on KRUK, switched front lights was the favourite option, but that meant complete re-wiring so I decided against it.

Using a seperate power source and circuit is a good idea though.

I don't think you will for now as you seem to be the only one at Ebay selling it except for some scalpers selling them at higher ridiculous prices...

Maybe we should send an eBay PM to those people who are bidding and tell them to buy from James at a fraction of the cost!
