No problem wannabegeorge. If you really want me to help you nitpick it to death until its perfect,I could help with that. All the other people I have worked with can attest to that.In fact at work people call me a perfectionist to the point where you can say I have O.C.D. (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)

yes you are annoying at times KR lol ;)

A perfectionist only appears annoying when he asks for the same problems to be fixed and is ignored. Which will result in a project appearing incomplete or an imperfect match.

I can see most of what's wrong with my model (I think) ... it's just a matter of whether I can fix it or not ... if you want to nitpick, by all means do. I'll try to fix some things and others I won't. It all depends on how hard I think the fixes would be.

Right now, I'm tweaking the headlight width and the scanner width. The scanner's too wide and the headlights aren't wide enough. More when I've got it ...

A *teeenie* bit more accurate. Oh, and nobody noticed my Davilex comparison with the last rendering? No cookies for you :P

wannabegeorge - amazing, simply amazing! I enjoy watching this thread every day, beautiful work.

I did notice the comparision with the last image, it made me think about and look forward to the day when I can ask you to replace the Davilex car on the front page of this site. This is so much more beautifully accurate already.

Dude, your 3d kitt seems like it's gonna be good enough to be a CGI KITT!

Would love to see that car in motion. There's a 3D max tut on making a lorry follow a certain line. Perhaps use that on KITT?

I've been faffing around with 3ds max for around 6 months and still can't a decent KITT. I finally figured out how to control meshsmooth, so my hood looks perfect-ish. It's sorting out what to do when meshsmooth does things that you don't want it to do that drives me nuts.

Which is why an unmeshsmoothed mesh pic would perhaps iron out some of the mysteries I'm encountering. You could always email/PM it to me.

I agree. I been watching this thread too and I'm amazed at your work! I hope to see it on the front page of this site some day too. And, if they do another Knight Rider show or a movie, they should ask you to do the KITTs for them for some of the stunts. :)

AWESOME JOB!!!

Thanks very much for watching my progress and commenting I really appreciate it :)

Knight2000 - alright ... it's against my better judgement, but I'll post a faceted unsmoothed version just for you ;)

Sadly, there will be no updates for a couple'a days. I got a call today to do some digital painting for a certain toy that is "more than meets the eye." I'll post exactly what when and if I get the okay.

As per request, the unsmoothed KITT:

Really takes the mystery and awe away, doesn't it?

Also, just to prove that I can indeed paint, here's a lil something I both drew and painted at the start of the new year:

(yep, my name's not even remotely related to George)

Thanks for the original mesh pic. Though I'm pretty sure I mentioned that you could have emailed it to me if you wanted to.

It really helps me see what went wrong with mine though so THANK YOU!

That poster....welll.... shows you are amazingly gifted as an artist.

No wonder my KITT could never match yours!

It's not a big thing ... you did say I could email/PM it. But I figured it could be a little update of sorts for everybody, crummy as it is :P

Hey,

Don't hassle the guy. I am sure that thing is taking an enourmous
amount of time effort to create.

These "come on, whats taking so long" fanboy posts are just plain RUDE! :?

I for one congratulate you on this major undertaking. It is looking
extremely fantastic. Please ingnore comments like the ones above.
They don't know the work involved in creating art like this!

keep up the great work on this project.

Carl, your painting is wonderful too! You are truely an artist!

I do web design and use Paint Shop Pro 8.1, and I do have a graphics tablet. But I'm not that great at painting stuff. I used to be back when I was taking a course with Art Instruction Schools (I earned a certificate from there). But when I went to digital graphics, I must say I got spoiled and lost a lot of my skills. I have watercolor pencils so I should sit down some day and do some stuff. But like you, work and other things sometimes gets in the way. No time to practice. :(

I admire the dedication you have in your free time to do this KITT though. Amazing!

I have Blender 3D but I haven't done much with it. I have a book about it. Hope the book will work with the latest version though. I have to update my copy of Blender (which isn't even installed right now). I also have POVRay stored on one of my backup CDs somewhere. And KPOV, a POVRay modeler for Linux though I don't have Linux installed right now either. I'm behind on a lot of things.

If I had time, I'd love to get to doing more 3D and digital art. I also do model kit building and have to get with it and finish my KITT and KARR models yet too.

Sorry about the lack of activity ... I've been working my arse off for this Transformers gig. I should have at least a little update for ya tomorrow night.

FuzzieDice - Thanks for the compliments! Finding time to practice definitely is hard. I think I need to decide what I want to do and do it. It's hard to even choose ... Do you have pics of your models online? I'd love to see 'em.
