A real life KIFT? A Car-Boat

Post by FuzzieDice » Thu Jun 09, 2005 1:54 pm

When I saw this, it reminded me of when they made KIFT float on water and they were saying it was hard to do for the movie, but got the Big Red Tomato to actually float. Now I see THIS car and wonder how the people who made this car float did that!

When I saw the Thread title, I had a feeling it was that same picture you were talking about. When I heard that on the News I almost died. It was so freak'n funny!!!!! Wait, The same thing happened not to long ago. With a few cubans in a 1959 Buick.

Heres a quote-
"First there were the "truck-boaters," a group who caught the public eye with their attempt to sail over in a 1951 Chevy truck kept afloat with oil drums in 2003. Another group tried the journey in an elegant 1959 Buick-turned-boat in February 2004"

I've actually seen a car-boat in action personally. (Unfortunately, I wasn't in it, since I didn't know the person who owned it.) It was pretty neat to watch but the thing moved incredibly slowly in the water.

I've seen aquatic vehicles on TV before. They actually made them a long time ago, like in the 60's and yes they were incredibly slow. But more recently the guy who owns Virgin (Can't remember his name at the moment) actually made an aquatic vehicle that could reach speeds about 30 to 40 mph on the water. It was pretty stylish too. :)

There's been aquatic vehicles made back in the 50s and again lately. The one that is made lately is pretty expensive, and that crazy billionare dude drove one across the English/French channel to set a new worlds record.
