Question about KITT model cars

Post by JJSoCrazy » Thu Feb 10, 2005 3:17 pm

I was wondering, where can I purchase the SPM KITT model and the Convertable KITT model, I saw it in those pics that were in another post of some kid who took them at a fair,

Thanx

I'm not sure if you mean the one where one of our posters found a booth that displayed some guy's "Knight Rider" collection or not, but I do believe the models that were in there were fan-modded 1/25 scale KITT models. There's "Knight Industries Model Design" mailing list on Yahoo! that features pictures of fans KITT models in every possible incarnation: KITT in white, KITT smashed up from "Knight of the Juggernaut", KITT smashed up from "Goliath", KARR from "KITT vs. KARR", KITT stripped of his MBS from "Junkyard Dog", KITT in SPM mode (Season 4), KITT the convertable (Season 4), KITT with odd nose from NBC Promos and the pilot episode, KITT with the flame paint job from the episode where he went undercover as a custom car (I forgot the episode name) and others (including a couple of dioramas of KITT and KARR from "Trust Doesn't Rust" and "KITT vs. KARR). Basically the SPM KITT model and Convertable KITT model are modified from the normal KITT models. The same has been done with KIFT models too, I myself having to have found someone online who actually painted their KIFT black.

A lot of hobbists often do modifications like this to make their own versions of KITT. In fact, I myself have modified the exterior of a 1999 Pontiac Trans-Am to make it look like KARR (with plans on doing a '99 Trans-Am KITT and an '05 Mustang GT KITT). I've also previously completed a two year task of making model representations of the whole "Team Knight Rider" group vehicles (because some of the models were available when I started). I myself have a copy of the MPC KITT model, but I can't bring myself to put the model together because I'm afraid fo ruining it.

So, if you want a SPM KITT or Convertable KITT model, you may have to resort to buying the latest print of the KITT models (though not as accurate as the MPC version of the models, but are in more supply than the MPC models are) and make modifications yourself. That's all I can think of. I'm not sure if anyone else here would recommend otherwise, but that's all I can give.
