Does anyone have the 82/83 1/25 ertl diecast KITT
I have searched this site to see if this thread was already done, but I could not find it.
I have been seeing this car on ebay and never have won it ( I lose it by 40.00-50.00). I would send the sellers questions about the car mainly the interior. And don't get replies or they say I don't know(like they cant look at the car) All of the ones I have seen are still in the box and doesn't have t-tops. I have always known and tried to get the kenner talking KITT since 1983 just cant afford it. I never knew this particular car existed, till I had seen it on EBay. I would like to know if the interior is just a regular car interior or is it similar to my 1/18 diecast. If someone here has the car could they post some pics? Thank you if you can help me

As far as I know, ERTL only made two kinds of diecast Knight Rider KITTs back in the early 80's. One is the 1:16 hardtop version with wrong oversized wheels (tin car is another name for it). Here's a picture of one being auctioned off at ebay:

The other is the 1:25 version with t-tops (but this doesn't include the covers). The 1:16 can fetch a $40.00 to $60.00 price tag in ebay if they are in mint condition and with a box. The 1:25 only fetches around $15.00 to $25.00.
Both of them do not have accurate KITT dashboards. They even have terrible front noses, both using stock Trans Am bumpers with a red sticker to simulate the scanner.
I don't know if one of these cars is the one you have in mind. If not, please provide us a pic or a link in case they are again available for sale in ebay.

Personally, I wouldn't pay more than 10 bucks for the 1:16 version. As mentioned it's basically a stock trans-am with a sticker for a scanner and even a circular steering wheel. If you're going for the sake of having a complete collection, go ahead. But if you want an acurate model get Ertl's latest offereing, as they sure have improved their technique in 20 years.

I'm gonnaq regret posting this in the future. Oh well, I can't have it anyway. Theres a 1/25 MPC KITT for you. I would buy it but if I ask my parents to use their credit card I might have my head handed to me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 18349&rd=1

What's stopping you from making a bid on it, TurbomanKnight? It's not in sealed condition, it won't fetch that high a price. You may want to email the seller first and ask for a picture of the contents and the condition of the clear parts. I bet it won't go beyond $15.00. And the seller accepts money orders, you don't have to use your parent's credit card.

Which one? The "Knight 2000" on the MPC and AMT/ERTL kits? Yeah, it definitely doesn't belong there. I guess MPC must have thought that it added a rather nice touch. For me it doesn't. Fortunately it can easily be sanded off with fine sandpaper.Arjun wrote:Notice the silly sign on the front bumper? Did they have to have that?

Yea, I got my MPC model for 5 bucks shipping and handling included about 2 months ago. The reason I got it so cheap was because it didn't have the box, but was still sealed and man is it sweet. But the engine was made wrong, the :casting" was reversed on it and must have been a facory mistake cause the stuff that's supposed to go on the left side of the engine go on the right and so forth. It's messed up and I only have half an engine cause the rest wont fit. My dad told me to sell it cause it's worth some money but now that I started on it now it's not. At least I found the one I made when I was a kid so I riped the engine out and put it in my new kitt model.
