Hey, you've been unbanned! Congrats. Don't pull anything funny next time
Your idea isn't bad actually. You referring to the plot of the game? I'm sure it could be incorporated, though I think Ken already has the plot planned and maybe close to completion. But hey, DLCs can work it!
Edit: Realized you were talking about the trailer. Lol, sorry. Still good idea and can be done.

Re: Knight Rider: The Fan Game
That was the original story and lead up the end of the game with Michael leaving for the events before KR2000 happens, but we decided against it and wanted to do a new season in the same style of the original show but a little more edgier for us adults and leave the option of free DLC expansions open. The game does open to Stevie's death in a way.

So, the gazillion dollar question is, does the semi still get destroyed? If so, I know an English knerd that's quite into big rigs who might be able to find a suitable '87/'88 model tractor to serve as a replacement.msKEN wrote:That was the original story and lead up the end of the game with Michael leaving for the events before KR2000 happens, but we decided against it and wanted to do a new season in the same style of the original show but a little more edgier for us adults and leave the option of free DLC expansions open. Re: Knight Rider: The Fan Game
While a part of me is always wanting to figure out how to mash together the KR, TKR, '08, 2000 & 2010 time lines together, another part is always willing to go the cheap route and say, 'Michael Knight gets a hard earned rest in after a long mission while Kitt drives to another distant mission point inside California. As Michael wakes up after a bit of bad road, he says, "Kitt. You wouldn't believe the bad dreams I've been having..." '

Re: Knight Rider: The Fan Game
Oh yes, you bet it does. Along with the mansion which will be seen in the next trailer. The story is still about FLAG being brought to its knees by a group of old forgotten villains gathered to take out Michael Knight and FLAG's entire operation once and for all. Garthe's main motivation is to break Michael as a man once and for all and if he can't forcibly take what he feels is his legacy then he'll just burn it all to the ground. Garthe's not too happy after Adrianne and he are left to die at the end of Goliath Returns. Lot's of plot twists for that final conclusion of the game. We just removed the "darkness" of killing main characters for cheap emotional value and decided to keep to Glen Larson's Knight Rider Bible for future script writers for the current rewrite. So it's not going to end on a dark dreary note unless you choose to let the game end that way. Yes you'll get to make options that will affect certain aspects of the story line during game play. One of those could be allowing a villain to live or die and once you've seen the plot unfold I can promise you it will be hard choice to make. But the bad ending is what we are calling the Knight Rider 2000 ending lol. The good ending well, you'll just have to wait and see.Matthew wrote:So, the gazillion dollar question is, does the semi still get destroyed? Haha jup I love that idea, we decided trying to tie all these failed reboots together is just too much of a waist of time. We just added the extra cars and characters as bonuses to discover and unlock while playing the main game while we focus on the timeline that actually matters at least to fans of the original like myself.

Re: Knight Rider: The Fan Game
Actually, if you think about it. Imagine if the Scent of Roses actually ended the series as intended. In gaming terms, you've got the choice of doing as Michael did in the episode, or killing Durant in a fit of rage. The later option would actually fit the character we see in Knight Rider 2000, since he would have lost the best part of himself in that moment. So I can definitely see the merits of choosing between a more series styled ending and a darker atypical one.

Re: Knight Rider: The Fan Game
For those wondering how big will this so called open world be?
It's 100 square miles (includes explorable ocean). The complete city of Malibu California where quite a few key scenes of Knight Rider had shot on location. GTA5 is 30 square miles with the ocean bottom for reference. Keep that in mind when you give us hell for taking so long . If we do a DLC we've already decided it would be all of the Vegas strip and a good chunk of the Nevada desert for the next open world. I know that brings us back to the Lego Dimensions talk of why there of all places, well I think Malibu takes care of the country side of things, I think it would be cool to bring in that iconic desert and working casinos with mini games into the fold at some point. I'm open to other suggestions though when/if we get to that point because if we do a DLC it will virtually be a sequel (or a new set of episodes if you will) with a whole new location.
This is our prototype level which we use for designing the game mechanics and coming up with mission ideas. In about 6 months it will be a living breathing city with amazing textures and lush vegetation and a complete underwater environment to boot.

You know, if you didn't want to link them together directly, you could always do a little cutscene like in The Topaz Connection where you just plot a course off all major highways and speed off into a desert montage listening to a little bit of "Men at Work."

Re: Knight Rider: The Fan Game
Free roam can be done at any time once you complete the quick intro to controls tutorial like most sandbox games. Xbox I don't have a definite answer for yet, I can play the beta on my personal Xbox with the dev program but it looks as though it wont be just as simple as me sharing the UWA (Universal Windows App) file for people to install on their Xbox, for now everything still has to pass a Microsoft approval process. A companion app like GTA5 and other newer games have is that what you're asking? I wish we had that kind of time and resources I'd love to do something cool like that, but not for this first game. We may do a bradygames style game walk-thru guide app though, that might be fun.

Although Ken can't legally include copyrighted music, there should be an option for installing or playing a list of personally included MP3's. It's just what the show would have wanted.
In fact, I thought of that bit of logic while messing around with my game. The notion of midi KR themes always playing just irked me. So, I went for a whole set of show heard midi's inside a mock radio. It was one of the few features I ever got running.

Re: Knight Rider: The Fan Game
I've seen a couple YouTube videos on playing games from the X-Box virtual shop. While there is an approval bit that is suppose to be going on in there, it's unbelievable some of the stuff that is openly downloadable. If this stuff had to be approved before it was choosable...then the X-Box staff have set some exceptionally low bars to clear. In fact, it seemed to me like the approval process just stated on the front screen if it was approved or waiting, to me.msKEN wrote:...for now everything still has to pass a Microsoft approval process.

Re: Knight Rider: The Fan Game
A lot of open water region to explore? Does that mean we're going to see the return of April's little water surfing option? (I don't even remember what it was called. Want to say Aqua Foil Mode or Hydro...something.) Or, dare I ponder if The Simpson's little contribution of Knight Boat is going to be hanging about?
And, with that vast Nevada desert level...know what I would include? A little tribute to Penn & Teller's game, Desert Bus. It would just be this empty bus that drives down the highway. Only one. And, who knows how rare it would be to even find the thing. Maybe as a slim chance of something to avoid while driving out in the desert.
Now, this was just coincidence that I ran across this. ( https://youtu.be/oWtfO3Mw5Po ) Seems that out in the Mojave desert somewhere by the highway 395, there is this Joshua Tree that holds '80s value for having been photographed by the music band, U2. It would still be standing, back then. (Still, might have something hanging from it.) Fans drop trinkets and such when they go visit it. The video also notes the potential presence of military aircraft that come from local airbase. I guess there's lots of little bits that could be hidden in the game.

Man oh man, you better fix your PC soon and send me some of those files, I'm dying from excitement here and am forced to play GTA 5 with Knight Racer's mod...
Just kidding KR not saying your mod is bad. I feel like this game is going to be a hell of a lot better than GTA 5 itself. I wish I could contribute.

Re: Knight Rider: The Fan Game
That last photo is from RC3s funeral which causes Michael to leave the foundation. Original script we threw out it was just too dark and gloomy to be considered knight Rider. This is one of the choice systems we were talking about. In this scenario Michael has to choose between saving a mass group of people or his friend Reginald. The stakes are high in this story but that is one scene we did delete, we just don't want to kill any main cast just in case we do want to do a sequel dlc lol. Not to mention it just feels wrong to kill him when he plays such a big co-op role on some of Michael's missions.
Jup the radio works like GTA for pc, in the game folder you will have a usermusic folder for all your own tunes even the radio announcer will still work with custom tracks. Though I do have to break the bad news our engine only supports ogg files the open source mp3 codec. But for Windows we made a neat little .net converter that handles everything. Mac and Linux users sorry but you still have a bunch of free options to convert your mp3s. We just can't afford that 3k mp3 license. That desert bus game though lol... good reference but wasn't that early 90's oh well I do already have KI3T KR2k and KRO vehicles in the game. Nothing says I can't make it an 80s bus skinned to look like that one. For the ocean let's say KITT gets a few upgrades (no we didnt make him a tranformer with weapons or turn him into a submarine) after being destroyed in the opening of the game. Come on its not a spoiler it happens almost every season premiere lol
Assasinge, pc parts ordered when I renewed the website should be here today or tomorrow from newegg

Can't wait. Ken, I think the system of having choices in the game to change the storyline is really cool! We have the choice to maybe let Garthe live, or kill him after a battle. Or the choice you described above like Rc3's death etc. What details do we have on Multiplayer by the way? Imagine th chaos with KITTs jumping all around and KARRs and whatnot all over the map! Voice chat would be great too, and maybe allowance of mods? Not like GTA mods, but maybe just some mods to make the game, more, interesting? I don't know, just a thought.
@Wittgen: I swear you'll turn KITT into RStein somehow as a mod. XD

If I knew how to make mods I'd surely do that. There's so many sh*t I could do with VD90Rstein or TT5/Rstein if I could code/model/texture! (I always wanted my Ingot to have a scanner bar in the grille a-la the DeloKITT)Assasinge wrote:Can't wait. @Wittgen I can model a few textures here and there, actually. I've worked Photoshop before. But let me tell you programs like ZModeler are a real pain in the a$$ to use sometimes, especially when converting those San Andreas models over to 4 or 5.
