Star Trek into Darkness giving a KR shout out?

Post by jup » Wed May 22, 2013 4:18 am

In the latest Star Trek movie, there's a rather bold shout out to a familiar scanner. It's all over the place in the security room scene. For whatever reason, a bunch of these bubble monitors are mounted into the wall. They aren't displaying anything technical. Instead, they seem to be doing something that looks like the scanner's movements in red. All the while, looking a bit like HAL's eye interface. Or, perhaps slightly like the Three Thousand's VOX. Doesn't seem to be even the remotest need for them to be there. They just are and doing their thing.
