Perfect source for model Knight rider scanners

Post by Tannim31 » Fri Dec 16, 2011 12:25 pm

Hey all, I have searched the web for several weeks for a suitable replacement for the anemic scanner that Hitari put in their otherwise perfect Knight 2000 KITT...and I think I have found it! evilmadscience.com has what they call a Larson Scanner using 9 LEDs with the KITT fade (unlike the single on/off LED that Hitari has) The price is perfect for modding, it's open source and from the videos I have seen it would be perfect!

The PCB it a bit big but you can wire your own LEDS and and stow the PCB and battery pack in the middle under the shell. it runs off of 2XAA in a supplied batter pack. the only pro/con (depending on how you see it) is it is a kit, so soldering skills are required. The one in the video displays the 10mm version but all they have are the 5mm version in stock, but most of us will be using out own LEDs and making mounts to fit in the scanner port. I figure with the way the scan lighting is, using 5 or 7 LEDs would still give the proper effect and still fit properly.

Good/Bad find?
