I'm a little confused here as the pilot/t.v. movie implied the new K.I.3.T was the original. They showed the original K.I.T.T. transam in the t.v. movie. So I assumed orignal K.I.T.T. was updated (new voice, etc.) and put into the new car.

So if new K.I.3.T. isn't the original where is the original K.I.T.T.?

It is believed that that was the original intention but that the idea was scrapped and the Knight 3000 and Knight 2000 are separate entities. As the Knight 2000's remains were scattered in the garage, it's clear that some kind of cannibalization was apparently going on, but as there were also 3 other vehicles in the garage besides the Knight 3000, it's anyone's guess what Charles Graiman was doing. But this much is certain: the Knight 3000 is an entirely different vehicle.

Whats to say that Dr Graiman wasn't using the AI and parts from KI2T for that huge spider thing in the pilot and KI2T may of been his computer help build KI3T. When the s*** hits the fan, he goes back and rebuilds KI2T with that technology?

According to GST during the recent "Knight Writer's Blog", I recall him stating that by the time Episode 13 airs alot questions will be answered & did he reference "F.L.A.G." alot, but check it out, if you already haven't.

Which is a prudent course of action. Not to sound like a TOS fanboy but the minute KI2K shows up it's all over for the Mustang. Talk about upstaging. This new cast needs to be able to hold their own before that happens. I think Kitt's KI2K CPU will make an appearance but not the actual car (Knight 2000). Ford has to know how much a following that old car has and it would be foolish to let it appear intact. Granted 26 year-old cars can't hurt new Mustang sales, but I see the old CPU finding a new home in some sporty Ford concept vehicle.

The show's main audience on TV right now has seemed to be kids and teens who have little to no idea what the original KR was about or few who evern care.
How is an almost 30 year old car going to upstage a brand new mustange, a car which i see dozens and dozens of times a day. Yet i see maybe 2 or 3 trans-ams a week.

If anything the KI3T will upstage KI2T to the new target audience, while KI2T will appearently upstage the KI3T to you....
Its all my opinion, but KI3T is way more advanced than KI3T...although we havent seen all his features, we still have 18 episodes left.....

We are still part of the shows intended demographic. I still believe the core of the fanbase is still the older fans and this show will not start a new generation of fans loyal to the new vision as ST:TNG did with me some 20 years ago. However, TNG found a happy medium between new and what has gone before. Wasn't the TNG episode "Relics" and DS9 episode "More Troubles More Tribbles" some of the highest rated? I wasn't even alive when TOS aired but was jazzed to see the old 1701 in action again (if even just for a bridge shot in "Relics.")

However, you could be right as most young people seem to be totally oblivious to things that existed before they did. I can't tell you how many little teen girls I saw outside a Duran Duran concert in 04 talking on their cell phones to their friends about this awesome 'new' band they just saw. I still think NBC could do a lot to plug into the older fans, that's pretty much why I'm here. I'm willing to give the show the benefit of the doubt, and do still support it, but my interest wanes by the week (in fact last week I found a month old issue of Wizard to be more interesting than the episode that aired as I gave up on it about half way through). At this stage I think TKR did more service to the old fans, but I wait with baited breath for ep. 12, 13.

And to hit on another thing, yeah Mustangs are every where. Kind of takes the mystique out of it, don't you think? I always draw crowds when I drive my KITT as most people don't even know what a Trans Am is anymore. In a world where an Acura can be considered muscle this is a beast from another day and age. It's up there with the 60s Batmobile. It's iconic. It's kind of cool to hear an 8 year-old at a gas station tell his Dad I want one of those (and no doubt the dad's thinking the exact same thing).

You got that right, this new version is already heading on the same level as TKR.

I Agree with the haters, this new version is a big dissappointment and a huge disgrace to the original.

Sadly this new version's even worse.

This new series is a mess, bruce davison completely wasted in this one, this show lacks all of the charm, style and honesty of the original.

I'm sticking to the original, this new one just does not work and never will.

Because this version does not work like the original, I Tried to give this new show a chance and it did not work for me.

This episode was moving, but to me it was not enough to recommend.

Not a chance, this remake stinks, NBC has ran out of steam with this version, in the meantime I'll be watching the original in syndication and on DVD.

Let's face it, this new version was a disaster, the mustang did not fit at all, the acting is terrible (especially bruce davison who's completely wasted in this one), the writing is atrocious, the CGI Effects are not that good and everything else is pointless

You knw the first knight rider really had, actual charm and style and the actors did it good with their roles and the car was cool and this remake looks like it was made from an after school special, a truly endless after school special, the only good thing about this mess is how kitt was turned into a Ford F-150, otherwise that's about it

The Ford Mustang may have been an icon car of it's own right, but it does not hold a candle to the pontiac trans-am

and it's hard to believe that one of my favorite actors bruce davison is in this piece of junk, he's wasted in this thing.

A New Chevy Camaro would be much better, keep the morphing CGI though.

So KI3T is not the original. It's not supposed to be. Like J.B. said, "It's more of a continuation." I think KI2T
will show up sometime on this series. They do mention it a number of times, like when Welther talks about
the car that Graiman built for Wilton Knight, w/ what was considered the most advanced AI imagineable.
Jenny asks Charles about KITT, "KITT's not another Trans Am, is it?" He answers "Mustang." They also tell
Mike about the original KITT, Jenny tells him that his father, MK Sr. is the one who drove the first KITT.
Mike is, of course, stunned at the news that there was another KITT. Watch the pilot again, already.
