30 Rock Hasselhoff joke

Post by Michael Pajaro » Fri Dec 08, 2006 11:24 pm

30 Rock made a small Hasselhoff joke on Thursday. Tracy is scheduled to appear on the Conan O'Brien show, but Conan (playing himself) is nervous about it.

I'm not sure why Conan would be nervous about it; that's his typical humor that he uses on celebrities every single night on his show. And besides, I think it's blatantly obvious that it's a light-hearted joke that wouldn't be taken the wrong way anyway. Hasselhoff seems like he can definitely take jokes.

Maybe I should have set up the scene a bit more, but it was just a throw-away line that I didn't bother.

In the show, they did a quick flashback to Tracy Jordon's (played by Tracy Morgan) previous appearance on Conan O'Brien, and he attacked Conan on stage with a knife. So that's why Conan was nervous about bringing Tracy back, and the Hasselhoff line was just a way of showing why he didn't trust doctors who vouch for celebrities.

(and for those who don't know about 30 Rock, yes, it is a scripted comedy, none of this is true.)

Oh, ok... When you mentioned Conan, I thought he was a talk show host like Johnny Carson or Jay Leno and was aluding to or making a joke of something that DH was reported to have done (which we can pretty easily assume never happened, obviously). I don't watch much TV so I'm rather uninformed on most of the new shows.

I didn't watch that show, so I thank the person who posted a comment about that sort of thing.
I don't really watch the show "30 Rock", but I've heard of the show, though, but I didn't know anything about them doing something about D. Hasselhoff on the show at all.

Fuzzie: Conan is a talk show host like Leno, he's actually replacing Leno in 2009 I believe.

I was at NBC over the weekend, and I was taken by the Conan set. On the hallway outside, there are photos with Conan and various guests over the years. One of the photos was of Conan, Andy Richter (his sidekick in the early years), Hasselhoff, and a large snake.

Thanks, neps. If I ever watched such a late-night talk show, it probably was to fall asleep by.

Leno is retiring? That's news to me too.

Things change through the years.
