I'm sure the freezing wouldn't have been good for the tires either, also in BTTF1 Doc says that the stainless steel frame helps with the flux dispersal, but the tires were not made of stainless steel, it could be that the time travel ages them by 10 years each time but the people inside and the rest...

I guess I'm all out of whack cause in BTTF III, they have the tires from the Delorean degrade after being stored in a cave, I know they aren't biodegradable, so that was messed up, but I just assumed acid would destroy it. I was just thinking, computers have trouble cars because it is not compleatly logical, well what about useing an analog system like Mark Tilden. I was reading The Bicentineal Man and on the back cover it said something like, they tried programing the three laws of robotics into a computer in the 70'...
