Chris Kerr, the author of As Seen on TV wrote to us to give us an updat that his website chriskerr.co.uk is now active. There you can find out more about the book, it's author, and read a number of excerpts from it.
As Seen on TV is the story of Kirk Rush, a struggling screenwriter in LA, faced with a problem which no one else can help with - how to write The A-Team movie, hit the big time in Hollywood, and save his sister Denise who has gone AWOL from her kidney dialysis treatment in Miami. MISSION: Impossible. As Seen on TV is a surreal satire of our TV-obsessed culture, shot through with catch phrases, programme titles, and Hollywood look-a-likes. It is dark and terrifically absurd, with echoes of Kurt Vonnegut and Thomas Pynchon.
It's currently available for £7.69 through Amazon.co.uk.
We originally mentioned this book last month
We got an email in our box earlier this week from Chris Kerr, an Irish author whos new book "As Seen on TV" is a surreal satire about our TV Obsessed culture. One of the infulences from this book is Knight Rider!
Here is a book sample:
I have a problem. No one else can help. Except maybe the likes of Hannibal, Face, BA, Murdock, and hooray for Hollywood feminism, Triple A. Yep, I want to hire The A-Team. Call me ‘Howling Mad’--that’s one better than barking--if this here problem of mine doesn’t raise its bull-ugly head in the middle of Tuesday night, 24th April. There I am, in my Hollywood bed, experiencing a wakeful dream about selling a script to Spielberg himself. I’m pitching the learned-by-rote resume I say to everyone out here, even the people in my dreams. ‘My go-project is The A-Team, Mr Spielberg. The door to this was The Six Million Dollar Man movie--even though they got some A-hole to rewrite me and retitled it The Bionic Dude. The key to that door was my spec script Zombie Moon--it’s all about how Zylon, an experimental space-age gas, makes the international crew of astronauts on Moon Base Alpha die and come back as undead brain-eaters.’
This book is available from Amazon shipping February 10th, 2005.

After fueling much discussion since July the 1/18th model designed by Ertl and released by their JoyRide studio label as well as Aoshima in Japan, has begun to make it to store shelves around the globe.
The first models in the 1/18 scale, and the largest KITT model since the Kenner Voice car of the 80s, this model goes leaps and bounds over any die cast predecessor. This model features a working scanner, detailed dash, opening doors, trunk and hood with detailed engine. Working grappling hook, and a right ejection seat.

As mentioned in our forums last week Profiles in History is set to host a live auction on eBay where one of the items up for grabs is a KITT used in the filming of Knight Rider:
437. K.I.T.T. (Knight Industry Two Thousand) car from Knight Rider. (Universal TV, 1982-85) This highly-modified 1983 Pontiac Trans Am is an original screen-used hero car used during the second season of the hit TV series. Instantly recognizable with its working scanner in the front and highly futuristic interior, this vehicle was arguably the star of the show! Accompanied with the original ownership certificate listing MCA Universal Studios Inc. as the registered owner. For insurance and liability reasons the vehicle's identification number was removed by Universal (common practice for their film and TV cars) and it was subsequently assigned the in-house inventory control number of "1177" (numbers can be found on the driver-side door and under the hood).
More information on the KITT can be found at the auction page. Also a page detailing the restoration of this car can be found at Mark's Custom Kits restoration page which is a very interesting read in itself.
The estimate is ranging from $40,000 to $60,000
This eBay auction was recently picked up by BoingBoing and engadget.
