Hello Sarah - One Minute Trailer

NBC aired the longest commercial trailer yet. We show how KITT finds Sarah, KITT meeting Mike, and plot details that might be a bit spoilerish. There is pretty amazing shots of KITT being hit in the windshield and "repairing" himself, and of course lots of action. If you want to keep clear of spoilers - you might want to stop watching thse.

Also another clip that had been airing recently is a Ford commercial talking about how in conjunction with Knight Rider they will be giving away four cars, one being a Mustang. That video is after the jump.

I have watched all the previews and ahve read everything and I have to say that I am excited and I can't wait. This past Monday I finished watching all 4 seasons of the original and I grew up with it just like all of you. I enjoyed TKR it only lasted a season but it wasn't too bad. Knight Rider 2000 needed more work but it was ok. In my opinion this show needs to become a series because, their is a real shortage of good shows on TV now. I hate most of the reality shows and I can't stand American Idol and I don't even call it that.

I will tell you what everyone. Let's watch the movie and if you miss it, it will be on again Saturday the 23rd at 9 then we can pass judgement.

ALTHOUGH, I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEW MOVIE, I'M DEFINITELY PISSED THAT THERE IS NO MOLECULAR BONDED SHELL NOR TURBO BOOST. I JUST HOPE THAT THE THREE THOUSAND IS THE SAME KITT AS IN THE TWO THOUSAND. I GREW UP WITH THIS SHOW IN THE 80'S AND HOPED THEY WOULD MESH IT TOGETHER BETTER.

That was my thought too when it looked obvious that the Knight 3000 doesn't have the MBS technology like the Knight 2000 had.

If I remember correctly, it was mentioned by Devon in the opening two part episode of season 2 that the formula for the MBS was only known to three people and from that, they each only knew two parts of the formula and required one of the others to complete it.

Like what Chedbetter said, those had knowledge of the MBS have probably passed away now, so a different form of protection was developed for the new car.

  • Chedbetter

Well, if you remember correctly, the Molecular bond formula was only known (and only in parts) to certain people during the design of KARR and KITT (2K). Most likely with the death of various characters / villains from the original series, the formula is probably gone. This was something I strongly had to consider when watching Team Knight Rider as well. Also, consider this, the molecular bond was also breakable by toxic waste and other things which are a bit more common today for criminals to get ahold of and therefor though it might still work, the chances of villains breaking down the weakness is greater. Hence, nano-tech regeneration is probobly far more effective. Also consider, with the shape shifting effect, the metal has to be reformed and if that chemical was on the car, the nano's wouldn't be able to break it down. It would be like a shell preventing the nano's from even being able to get inside it.

It IS an upgrade! No it's not a fancy excuse to use CGI, but in the story itself the MBS of the original series was "virtually indestructible", but it was able to get damaged in Goliath, KITT's interiors were destroyed in Junk Yard Dog, he was blown up in Knight Of The Drones. This new system allows KITT to instantly repair himself instead of relying on a character like Bonny all the way back at HQ.

I love it, much better than MBS.

One thing i dont get.. the original Kitt was virtually indestructible. bullets just bounced off it. So why does this ones windows break at all? the regeneration effect where the car repairs itself is cool, but why does it need it? the cars supposed to be an upgrade, so surely it too should be virtually indestructible...

    ---------------

Cause regeneration gives them an excuse to use those fancy cgi effects
